"What do you mean there's no flour in stock?" asked Maurice."Malt said that most Pokémon don't really have a working kitchen, so there isn't much need to stock any," said Rhodes. "Plus, I heard they were having trouble at the Ranch with food. PK said we might have to uh import from um Ala-Alom- PK's home town and other places."
"But we need them to cook for the refugees in Castle Draclugia," said Leilani.
"Oh no, I'm sorry. I wish we had something. Are you sure you don't need- uh- oh- we don't have much food, but Malt said this was all of the Ranch's stuff."
"It's okay Rhodes," said Maurice. "I'll go find Malt and ask him about it. I went by the Ranch a few times, and it looked like it should have more food than that." With that the Mankey left in search for the male Miltank.
"We'll go ask around for flour," said Leilani. "Best of luck." She, Ice, and Dmitri quickly exited.
"So the ranch is out and the store is out. Now what?" asked Ice.
"We're going to have to steal from the broken houses," said Leilani.
"Ok," sighed Dmitri. "This will go faster if we split up. You search this half and I'll search the other half." The Zangoose scampered off in one direction while the two girls went in another.
"Hey, my brother's house is in this direction," said Ice. "When I stopped by and asked about flour, Coco got-ah- she didn't want me near. They might have some flour, but Coco said that cuz I was gonna be involved in the food she was gonna avoid eattin' at the castle."
"That was harsh."
"Bro mentioned the Bidoof incident."
"We should really try to skip the cooking part of the mission. Anyways, I suppose we should go to their house for flour."
Team Luxury's house was one of the plainer buildings in Tao. It was a square oddity in a village of homes mostly shaped like their owner's heads. Its color scheme did match a Delcatty, but that was it. Coco claimed that it was more cost effective and was more like the buildings in Alomomola City. Half the house had been wrecked, but for the most part the other half was in decent shape.
Leilani and Ice rushed forward, but they were forced to skid to a halt and hide in the bushes when they saw Coco exit the house. The Skitty swiveled her ears towards the bushes.
"Whoever you are, come out where I can see you," she hissed. Her fur had puffed up, and her tail was aimed at the bush. She looked more like a ball of fluff than a threat.
Leilani and Ice stayed quiet. Coco's squinted eyes narrowed with anger, then she turned and walked back inside.
"Well," said Leilani. "It's time for some stealth training. You've been here before, do you think you can figure out where the closest window is?"
"Hmmmm, the kitchen's on the unbroken side. That one near the front," replied Ice.
"Quietly, we need to check where it is. She's not a fighter, but her Thunder Wave more than makes up for that. If we're both hit, I don't think we'd leave the house before she'd get the Patrat Patrol on us."
Ice nodded and snuck closer. She pressed her face near the window and scanned the room. Coco wasn't in the kitchen. Ice carefully slid the window open and moved in.
"You're doing great," whispered Leilani. "Now, do you know what the organization system of their kitchen is?"
"Wha-" started Ice.
"Quieter. Just because you're part deaf doesn't mean Coco is. Do you have any ideas?"
Ice shook her head and began looking at cabinets. Dmitri mentioned that the bags were fairly big and heavy. Maurice was small, but strong, and probably did most of the cooking and cleaning, so he'd place it somewhere easy for him to access. Ice rifled through all of the cabinets on the bottom. She found several things that she didn't recognize. Eventually, she found the bag and pulled it out. It was heavier than expected and banged against cabinet door as it came out- not to mention the final tug made Ice bump into a chair that fell with a loud crash.
"Do you think you can get that out through the window?" whispered Leilani. "She's probably coming."
Ice shook her head.
"You hide, I'll make a distraction." Leilani shot a string at the window and swung out. Ice slid into a corner. At that moment Coco came in. Ice curled up tighter and grimaced. She didn't like hiding, but if she got paralyzed she'd mess up another mission. The Skitty righted the chair, her ears straining for noise and her nose sniffing the air. Ice held her breath.
"What? Scared of a little Skitty?" asked Coco. She examined the cabinet. "That little sneak, I can't believe she'd stoop so low." Ice tensed and resisted the urge to pounce on the pink cat. Coco's ears twitched in the decoration of a back room. Ice could faintly make out a banging sound, then a crash. The Skitty doubled back and scampered towards the noise.
Ice didn't wait and darted out of the kitchen, through the front door, and back to the bush. She clutched the flour with one claw and tapped her other claw against the ground. Leilani returned after what felt like an hour instead of a few minutes. "What took you so long?" hissed Ice when the bug returned to her shoulder.
"It's hard to make a Substitute with rocks tied to it look like it was leaving," replied Leilani. "Even if Coco finds it, it'll keep her distracted long enough. We got a bag, we might as well go to Dmitri, that was a bit too close for comfort, and without Sly we can't get a good guess about how many Pokémon are in a house without peeking inside."
