Description
I made some homemade applesauce tonight, because my friend likes how I make it.I'm also gonna put the recipe here so yall can try it out.
Ingredients needed:
2 large apples (preferably green)
3/4 cup sugar
2 cups water (or 1 cup apple/ grapejuice and 1 cup water)
1 large lemon
1 tablespoon cinnamon
Instructions:
Peel both apples. (I do this bu slicing off the very top and bottom, then use a potato peeler to remove the rind). Cut into 4ths (or 8ths if needed) and carefully remove the seeds and core. Dice the apple slices into chunks - preferably between 1/3 and 1/2 inch thick.
Collect as much juice from the lemon as you can. (I roll it around on the counter then cut it in both directions on once side, then press my fingers inside to squish everything. Remove all seeds from the juice.
In a medium saucepan, mix the apple chunks and the lemon juice. Then add 2 cups of water, and put over medium heat. When the water starts to simmer, add the cinnamon and 1/4 cup of the sugar. Mix it well, then cover and allow to simmer for 10-15 minutes. (check on it halfway through to mix and make sure nothing is burnt to the bottom of the pot)
Uncover, add another 1/4 cup sugar, mix, and cover to allow to simmer for another 10-15 minutes.
Add the last of the sugar, and from here it shouldn't be more than 20 minutes. (check on it halfway through to mix and make sure nothing is burnt to the bottom of the pot)
Remove from pan when done - I suggest putting it in a thick, glass bowl. Allow it to cool before eating. You can either chill it, or eat it warm.
It'll take around an hour to completely cook everything. I hope everyone enjoys this super sugary treat :3
I know my friend does~
