Ranrose (The Random appearance Pokemon) is a dual Dark/Fairy type Pokemon.

It evolves into Tenrose starting at level swenty-seven, which evolves into Roseleech starting at level fifty.

Along with Darkrai, this Pokemon is capable of learning the special move of Dark Void.

Biology:

Ranrose was once believed to be a purely bipedal Pokemon, but was later discovered to be capable of traveling on all four of its limbs much like a quadruped. It's body is covered in fur, which is thickest atop it's head, chest, and the back of its neck. Color wise, it's body is dull gray, and sports violet markings. These markings have no definite shape or location, and tend to vary from individual to individual. It's long, citlike tail is the only acceptation in one sense, given that it always bears at least one violet stripe.

It's snout is moderately sized and rounded, with small fangs visible even while it's mouth is closed. It's nostrils are small and open, creating the resemblance of a reptilian face. Two small, pointed and well shaped ears can be seen atop it's head. The interior of each is holds a small tuff of light gray fur, while the interior itself is pink. It is unknown whether or not it's eyes are open or closed.

It's forelimbs are unusually shaped, resembling a fin with two abnormal, clawlike appendages growing at the end. One claw is always larger than the other, causing some experts to believe that it's forelimbs were initially supposed to act as hoofs. It's legs are thin and lanky by comparison to its forelimbs, and are fairly avian in structure. Two toes can be found on each foot, and these toes sport small, underdeveloped nails. These nails are not yet long enough or sturdy enough to be used in battle.

On its back is a black, rose-like bulb, which gradually grows in size as the Pokemon nears it's evolution stage. The bulb starts out only a few inches in size, but will reach almost a foot in diameter by the time the Pokemon is ready to evolve. Standing at only three feet tall while on its hind legs, this Pokemon is not large - and few understand how it can keep balance while having such an unusual growth protruding from its back.

It's habitat is fairly undefined, as it tends to appear randomly in virtually any area. They have even been encountered out at see, in which case they wind up being in desperate need of aid. This Pokemon is not an adept swimmer, and seems to be prone to becoming stranded atop floating logs or abandoned shipyards once making the mistake of teleporting out to sea. Hence, this Pokemon is easiest to capture in or near water.

Behavior:

Ranrose, named for their randomly appearing nature and the Rose that grows on their back, is a very rare Pokemon. Capable of using teleport immediately upon hatching, and unable to forget this move until after evolving into Tenrose. Even then, the odds of this move being replaced are very slim. No matter the evolutionary stage, this Pokemon species is quite fond of its teleportation abilities.

The major flaw of this behavior is that whenever they teleport, they literally appear in a random location. Until being captured by a trainer, they are unable to pick a place to transport itself to. Hence, they are prone to stranding themselves in the water. Poor at swimming, and holding an innate fear of drowning, Ranrose will stay in place and cry out for help whenever it has trapped itself in a large body of water.

Some Pokemon use this to their advantage and take the opportunity to dine on a trapped Ranrose, while others will take pity on them and carry them to shore. Any trainer fortunate enough to come across this Pokemon while it is trapped at sea is guaranteed a chance to capture it.

True to its nature as a fairy type Pokemon, it is extremely loyal and protective of its friends and trainer. Hence, they will behave in a way that causes their allies to experience positive emotions, which is uses to power it's fairy type moves. However, as a result of its nature as a dark type, negative emotions are also used to fuel it's ebony moveset. This also brings about two different forms of evolution, in the long run.

If a Ranrose is exposed primarily to positive emotions prior to evolving, then they will take on a dominant fairy type persona upon reaching its next stage. This brings about three separate forms of Tenrose. One positive in attributes, one neutral, and one negative. The neutral evolution is the one that bears the most resemblance to the original form. The fairy type evolution, while still also being a dark type, will be entirely immune to dragon type moves. The same example can be applied to its dark type evolution, which will be completely immune to psychic type moves. The neutral evolution will be immune to no move types, and will receive half-damage from moves that would massively harm it's positive or negative evolutions.

Emotional energy is absorbed by the Rose that grows from its back. This Rose will bloom during evolution, exposing specialized tenrils which Tenrose will rely on to collect the energy needed to power it's moves.
