Tears welled in his eyes as he stared at the image standing before him. The image of his dog, up and walking around the room. He had to fight the urge to puke at the sight of it. Why? Well, because the dog he was looking at, wasn't even recognizable as a dog anymore. All of its hair had been charred off, and its skin was burned and bloody from head to toe. Lumpy from blisters. A burned, shriveled tongue hung out its mouth, and its body made disturbing sounds with every motion. Bloody, yet somehow chalky paw prints were left all over the room from where it had stepped, and it carried with it the stench of burned flesh. Despite its horrific appearance, the dog seemed cheerful.

That, made the sight of it even worse. The charred, blackened form of the dog moved around as if there was nothing wrong with it. Happy pants and whines left its shriveled, nearly non existent lips as it walked in circles and looked up at him. If, what it was doing even counted as looking. There were no eyes. Just, red, puss filled holes where its eyes used to be. They'd popped from the heat of the flames that had burned it. Not that it seemed to care or notice, it just went about its merry way as if expecting its beloved owner to play with it. (D/N), his poor, poor dog. Tears finally escaped the barriers of his eyelids to roll down his cheeks, and he fought the urge to vomit as he continued to stare at his dearly departed pet.

Memories of what had happened hit him hard. The bullies. His dog chained to a fence and barking. The lighter fluid that was sprayed all over the animals fur. The match that they lit, only to throw it onto his dogs lighter fluid drenched fur. The flames. The pained screams of his poor dog, as it was burned alive. The terrible smell of burnt hair, and meat. He clenched his fists and bit into his lip to keep from screaming as he stared at the hallucination that stood before him. Still, he felt the shout rise in the back of his throat- the urge to call out became unbearable. Finally he opened his mouth to let it go, only for a rough smack to the back of head to make his scream turn into a yelp.

He turned abruptly, tears still rolling down his cheeks, to find his partner glaring down at him. The other male remained silent, and they eyed each other intently before he finally began to look around. A few of the nurses had stopped to stare at them, and if they noticed his tears they believed them to have been caused by the punch he'd been dealt. Relief rushed into him when he looked to find that the hallucination had ended. The image of his dog was nowhere to be seen- but he remained alert.

"Crying ag-ain (Y/N)?.. Pa-thetic..." Toby stuttered as he glared down at him, his head jerking to the side because of his uncontrollable twitching. Immediately after uttering his statement, the twitching male moved to take a seat next to his partner. He then pulled what seemed to be a twinkie out of his pocket, only to drop it in the others lap. As he did so, he bit into his sandwich. In response, the male huffed and licked his lip- he'd bitten it hard enough to make it bleed.

"Shut up asshole!... I was seeing things again..." (Y/N) growled, though the second part of his statement came out as a mutter. Despite this, Toby seemed to hear what his partner had said- but he opted not to act on it. Comfort- sentimental things- those weren't things he was good at. Or, rather feelings like that just weren't part of his personality. All he was really good at was staying silent and acting as if he was paying good attention- but given his ticks he couldn't always focus. He sat and watched intently as his partner pried open the twinkie wrapper, before taking as large a bite of it as they could.

"... Wh-at was it th-is time?" Toby asked after a while, his curiosity getting the better of him. Sure, he was slightly concerned about the others well being- but in reality he was more curious as to what he'd seen to provoke tears. Given that he had a sadist streak, he enjoyed hearing the descriptions of the horrific things his partner often saw. If his memory was correct, last time there was a face on the wall telling him it was hungry and that it wanted food. That food being his blood. That incident ended with him having a panic attack and being put into a drug induced sleep. The male eyed him as if angry, then looked to the floor.

"... My dog... After the fire." (Y/N) said bitterly, before he crammed what was left of the twinkie in his mouth. He didn't need one of the nurses to walk over and ask how he got hold of it- because then he'd have to say Toby was bribing the workers with pain killer. He didn't know how, but somehow the twitching male managed to acquire pain killer on a regular basis despite not being able to feel pain. Well, aside from headaches. He complained about headaches from time to time- but honestly no one could tell if he was faking or not. The headaches might have actually been how he'd been getting hold of the painkiller, but again, (Y/N) didn't know for sure.

In response to the others answer, Toby raised a hand to scratch at the indent on his cheek. Prior to capture, he'd had a huge hole in the side of his face. How he'd gotten it, he'd refused to tell- but the courts payed for expensive surgery to have the missing area of flesh filled in. The end result was a pale scar, and a visible indent where the missing flesh had once been. The courts had ordered it to be done for sake of preventing infections, not to mention frightening the other patients. Still, he often complained about it. According to him, it replaced tissue tended to itch. That of course, made him claw at it until the nurses had to tie him to his bed.

They tended to leave him like that until whatever wound he'd put on his cheek healed. Granted, due to how violent he became when he was tied up, they knocked him out and fed him through tubes- among other things. He had no idea how lucky he was not to be able to feel pain- otherwise just peeing would make him scream regularly enough. Catheters weren't fun to have put in, or removed.

".. Your d-dog... Was he s-scream-ing?" Toby asked curiously, only to have a nurse appear and swat at his hands to stop him from clawing at himself. He turned to glare at her- both of them did. She met their glares with one of her own, and pointed towards the digital clock.

"Seven-thirty. Bedtime. Get to your rooms- now!" The nurse growled. They hesitated for a moment, before sighing and doing as was instructed. Neither of them were in the mood to be wrestled to the ground and given a shot of tranquilizer. So, they obeyed for sake of that. Both went to their rooms- granted, they had to be escorted- and they went their separate ways without word of goodbye. Toby was put in his private room, and (Y/N) went to the room he shared with another patient. A patient he didn't much care for, because he stole things from him. He didn't know what was wrong with his roommate, but he knew one thing for sure. He constantly lied, and stole things.

Once he was in his room, he and his drugged roommate were locked in for the night. So, he ventured to his bed and climbed into it. He hated the feel of the hard, poor excuse for padding he had to lie on, but after a couple years of sleeping on it he'd gotten used to it. With that, he lied down and closed his eyes. Sleep wouldn't come fast, but it would come eventually. He just had to hope another hallucination didn't hit him before then..
