Oh, yes.... Mort is the border. He said he wanted to be something square. That's him in the last panel. Yup.

Introductions
When Duke was a young warthog....
No, wait, wrong story.
When Duke was young, he frequently stole away from his family's home. It was tough being one of seven kids. On his many adventures, he hopped the fence into the Safari Zone. The staff didn't appreciate his appearances, and would chase him away if they saw him. Of course, the pokemon usually beat the staff to it. Not many pokemon enjoy acorns being tossed at them in imitation of a real trainer.
When he was nine years old, by chance, Duke hopped the fence on a day the Kanto region had decided to bring new pokemon into the Safari Zone. Among the pokemon from Sinnoh, Johto, and Hoenn was a single Aron, confused and lost after being uprooted from Iron Island.
Having never seen an Aron, Duke set to stalking it through the weeds, hiding when it turned around. Humming theme music to himself, Duke pounced from the weeds, tossing the acorn he had at the ready.
With a solid tink the acorn bounced off the Aron, landing several feet away.
The pair stared at each other for a moment before Duke proclaimed his greatness and congratulated himself on another fine capture. Pulling another acorn from his pocket, he happily wandered away, making a point to avoid the trainers that had flocked to the Safari Zone on such an eventful day.
The Aron followed.
When Duke became bored of evading trainers and tossing acorns at Nidorans, he climbed back over the fence.
Aron tunneled under it, following him home.
It took a while of explaining to his mother that the Aron thought it had been captured, and it took a longer time to convince her to keep it.
After apologizing to the Safari Zone and paying the dues of a day's pass, Duke's mother consented to keeping the newly-named Zero, as long as Duke cleaned up after him.
The two became the best of friends, despite Zero not actually being captured until he evolved into a Lairon the week of Duke's first Pokemon adventure three years later.

Awww, what a cute story. From the preview I thought it was maybe something like 'HOW MAN INVENTED POKEMON CAPTURE'
