Description
Hehehe... I deserve to be shot for these titlesAnyway... here's another colouring test/concept thing for my 3rd year project, the other main location, Earth. I'm tring to make it look dark and cold and just kinda nasty in general. In that respect I think it turned out well.
I know the direction of the lighting changes in places so apart from that, I'd really really like constructive criticism (everyone was very helpful for the last one, thanks).
In particular, do you think it's too dark? You can see more detail when I brightened it but it didn't look as night time-ish. If anyone has any tips on making images look dark without losing too much detail that would be awesome.

The atmosphere in this is so dismal and industrial, and even kinda postapocaliptic to me

Dane should do my backgrounds...
Looks amazing, only critique would be that the pipe out the top of the shed looks flat. The pipe is above the horizon line so I would make those edges bend up instead of down, would also mean you wouldn't see the hole in the top of the pipe.

If it doesn't interfere with plot or setting, the addition of the moon can add a really nice cold light, and adds contrast against darker areas. Highlights could even make sharp edges appear sharper.

Thanks for the tips The moon will sorta be there, it's the main focal point of the story really... so it'll show the moon, then pan down to show this... maybe I could do a sort of paralax pan so the moon can still be in the shot... anyway... I'll have a play around with it.

This is great.
You know what scares the shit out of me?
Junk yards.
There's always something bad that goes on there. Always.

Thanks. I love junk yard sorta environments in movies/cartoons/games... like the junk planet in the Transformers movie... so so so cool. Or the end of the Utena movie when all the cars get wrecked and makes this junkyard sorta pathway thingy. That's awesome.

Wow. The mood is awesome! Very nice effects with the worn building and the oil rig in the background. Yea, I'm taking some environmental science courses and yeah, Earth's future is not looking good.
Very nice piece!

Thank you Although it's not mentioned anywhere in the short film this is for, I like to imagine that is actually a water rig... cos there's no water or something (also the reason why there's no clouds)

Looks neat-o. I would keep it all like it is. The shades of blue give it an athmosphere. Very nice.
