AboutBorn of magic, dreams, and wishes; Starweavers are majestic creatures that traverse a realm connected to the world Asteria, called Faeryn in search of their destined dreamer. A Starweaver's sole purpose is to ward off nightmare creatures who feast upon the dreams of creatures. To accomplish this, Starweavers will stay at their Dreamer's side for their lifetime, becoming their guardians. It is said that simply being in close proximity to these creatures is enough to ward off the Dreameaters.
Starweavers have the unique ability to traverse both Asteria and Faeryn realms, phasing through each with ease. They are nocturnal creatures, as their duty is to protect their bonded dreamer in slumber. During the day these creatures are often found lazing about on any ledges and nooks they can fit themselves into, their tails wrapped around themselves. It is rare to see Starweavers outside Faeryn during the day, but those who have sighted them have told of them taking on a ghastly appearance, yet having fur that glistens slightly in the sunlight.
By nature, Starweavers are very curious and playful creatures. They're always wanting to investigate anything new and out of the ordinary, and always willing to make a friend or two along the way. Starweavers are for the most part, silent creatures, but are able to communicate with their Dreamer and other Starweavers through melodic hums of various pitches and intervals. The Dreamer is able to understand the distinct hums of their bonded Starweaver. However, Starweavers have shown the ability to learn the human tongue in time.
AnatomyStarweavers are genderless creatures, due to their physical makeup. They have the ability to fly despite not having wings, floating effortlessly in the air due to the magical energies stored within their bodies. Their mouths are lined with tiny, incredibly sharp teeth, and their tongues are forked at the tip. Starweavers have retractable claws, and an opposable thumbs on both front paws. Like humans and other creatures, there can be variations in the shape of their eyes and general head structure.
In addition, Starweavers possess special glands in their necks that store a sleep dust and vapor combination to help their bonded Dreamer rest easier, be it from insomnia, night terrors, or other conditions. The vapor is released through a canal in their mouth. When breathed in, the vapor emitted has a soothing effect, and has a pleasant scent, often in the scents of various herbs and flowers. This vapor has a slight glow and sparkling effect once released. The vapor is typically the colors of a Starweaver's horn and tail, though may be any other color.
A Starweaver's body is covered in soft, silky fur that possess a shimmering quality. While Starweavers can have any length of fur, they always have shorter fur on the bridge of their nose and forehead. Their fur can be over any coloration and have any type of marking. They always have thick tufts of fur on their cheeks and the base of their tails. These tufts can also appear on the tips of their ears.
The tails of Starweavers are composed of magical energies, collectively known as Starmist. It is said that their tails are mirrors to other realms, and you can catch glimpses of other galaxies, suns, moons, stars, and other entities through them. While their tails are composed of magical energies, it still maintains the appearance of hair. In addition, Starweavers can have a multitude of hair styles, or none at all.
A Starweaver may possess a single horn on their head. They can grow in a variety of shapes and sizes, and while not all Starweavers possess a horn, it is not detrimental to them in any way should they not have one. The horn is simply a result of leftover concentrated essences that a Starweaver is born from. These horns take on a shimmering crystalline-like appearance and is translucent, with glowing properties.
DietStarweavers do not need to eat tangible foods like other creatures; they instead consume pure, raw energy from stars, and other celestial bodies. Once a Starweaver has feasted upon their celestial body of choice, they do not need to eat for the next 500 years, as their bodies are efficient in storing and using the energy consumed.
Life CycleA Starweaver's life begins as an egg, born into the Faeryn realm through the condensed essences of dreams, wishes and magic. This egg is very warm to the touch, and will glimmer and shine with these essences swirling about in the egg's translucent shell. The shell itself is extremely hard to break, and will reflect the Starweaver's own fur colors when born. The egg, when about to hatch, will emit a soft glowing light before cracking, shattering in a burst of shards and glimmering dust almost instantaneously; marking the birth of a new Starweaver.
Newborn Starweavers take about 1 year to fully mature, and their tails are a small puff when born. Initially, newborns are unable to collect or process cosmic dusts into usable materials, but will gain this ability upon reaching adulthood in order to practice their namesake craft.
Starweavers can live thousands of years, until they eventually return to dream dust as they were made from, and any leftover essences, be it dream, wish or magic, will be scattered again to begin new life. Starweavers can be reborn again this way, but the chances of rebirth are very slim. When a Starweaver senses its time has come, it will seek a solitary place is the cosmos and curl up into a tight ball, its body exploding in a blaze of light, like a dying star.
StarweavingStarweavers love to wear various trinkets, and articles of clothing. They have the unique ability to process stardust and other cosmic dusts into a fine thread and other splendid materials, which is then used to craft their attire. Starweavers will often collect cosmic dusts from high energy sources such as stars, quasars, supernovae and other celestial bodies in order to practice their craft. The materials created from these dusts are very durable and can withstand a lot of wear and tear.
Starweavers can conjure textile, leatherworking, and metalworking tools, creating elegant cloth, leather and metals. These attires may possess a slight glimmer from the dusts used to create them. In addition, they love adorning their attire with various crystals, gems, and other minerals.
Clothing and accessories are not mandatory to wear by Starweavers, but it is extremely common. Typically the amount of detail and intricacies in a Starweaver's attire can be a sign of status or skill. Clothing and trinkets created by one Starweaver can be worn by another, and is not bound to the crafter of the attire or trinket. It is not unusual for Starweavers to gift their close companions with trinkets and the like that they made themselves.
