This guide serves as an introduction to the Wyspling closed species.
Please note that this guide is an ongoing work and is subject to change at any time.

AboutWyspling are intelligent creatures with some magical capabilities. They use deep purring sounds and hums to communicate in addition to body language. These creatures are generally very shy and elusive. They are however, very playing and loving to their own kind. Groups of 5-10 Wyspling are called Shrouds. Wyspling, on average, can live 200 years, and can thrive in all climates, due to their unique ability to regulate their body temperature in any environment.

AnatomyWyspling are on average, 1.5 feet tall from the top of their heads, not ears, and 2.5 to 3 feet long from nose to tail tip. They weigh between 6 - 12lbs in most cases. Male Wyspling are generally larger than their female counterparts, and either gender can possess between 2 and 3 pairs of horns.

Their bodies consist of thick, fluffy fur covering their neck, and fine scales on the rest of their body, excluding their large fluffy tails, and wings (with some exceptions.) A Wyspling can be of any coloration, and can have a multitude of markings.

A Wyspling's face is smooth, consisting of incredibly fine scales. The texture of their face is akin to porcelain. They have two oval spots above their eyes serving as their 'eyebrows.' Each Wyspling is born with a pair of small wings, and though small, do allow for limited flight. Horn types vary throughout the species, but are generally petite in size. Their tongue are slim and pointed at the tip, and is similar in texture to a feline's tongue.

Moon PearlEach Wyspling is born with, and carries an orb tucked away in their bushy tails called a Moon Pearl. This pearl grows with the Wyspling, and emits a soft light and contains the essence of magic. When not tucked away in their tails, the Pearl will float and follow its owner, as though bound by an invisible thread. These Pearls often have matching colors of the Wyspling who owns it. However, the Pearl can change in color depending on the magical energy gathered. Moon Pearls will only gather excess magical energy in the world.

It is very hard for a Wyspling to lose their Moon Pearl, but should they do, this Pearl will search for its owner until found, often leaving trails of glittering energy behind. The longer the Pearl is away from its owner, the dimmer its light will become. Should the Moon Pearl's light disappear completely, a Wyspling is then considered Silent, unable to use any magical abilities.

HatchlingsWhen born, Wyspling hatchlings are always found clutching their personal Moon Pearls to their chests, curled up in a ball around it. They will hold onto their Pearl for a few hours after hatching, before the Pearl will follow them on its own. It is also a good source of heat for the newborns, as their bodies can not regulate their temperature at time of hatching. Hatchlings will stay with their mothers for 6 weeks before exploring on their own.

Hatchlings will always have a somewhat larger head size in proportion to their bodies. Their wings and legs appear stunted, but will grow out in due time. As hatchlings, their eyes will remain closed for a few weeks before opening, and during this time they are able to traverse their surroundings with their other senses.

Wyspling Dens & NestsWyspling make their dens underground, usually digging a hole in the side of a hill or just on flat ground. These dens are relatively small, able to fit roughly 5 grown Wyspling to live in. They will often use plant material, rocks, bones, and other matter they can find to create their nests. A female Wyspling will incubate her clutch of 1 - 3 eggs for approximately 2 - 3 weeks, and after this period they will be ready to hatch. Pairs of Wyspling mate for life.

DietA Wyspling's diet consists of mostly plants and fruits, but are opportunistic when it comes to consuming meat, often scavenging for scraps of meat from carcasses of deceased animals. They do have a particular fondness for berries, and fruits of all types. Berries and other sweets will attract them to humans.

Each Wyspling has their own favorite berry or fruit. In most cases, if you know what a Wyspling's favorite food is, this will allow to befriend them if you're patient with their skittishness.

Mist FormThe Mist Form is a special ability granted to all Wyspling, which Relics also inherit. In this form, their bodies become a cold, glittering mist, though maintaining their body's shape. While in this form, they are able to quickly disperse, evading predators or other dangers. This form also have the unique ability to phase through solid matter, allowing easy escape. This ability is limited however, as they are only able to maintain this form for a short duration, approximately 1 - 2 minutes. Once used, it requires ample time to build up magical energy to return to this form.

A Relic's Mist Form varies greatly depending on the element to which it aligns itself to. For example, a Flame Relic can become a thick, dark smoke, trailing small embers as it moves, while an Ice Relic may become a blizzard with tiny ice shards.

Relic WysplingRelic Wyspling, or Relics for short, are a rare variation of Wyspling. Through places of magical power, they have had their physical forms transformed to various elements. These elements include fire, ice, water, earth and many others. Not much is known about where these places of power are, or their purpose, as they, like the Relics, are extremely hard to find. Due to the volatile nature of a Relic's body, they are unable to breed. Relics do maintain the common Wyspling form in most cases, and there can be many changes based upon the element has the most influence on them.

I have to say that this is amazing. The species itself seems very well thought out and the design is adorable! Way to go for creating your own unique species!

I must ask, though. I know what the term Closed Species means and I can understand completely why you would make this species closed. But, for your own thoughts and regulations, what would one need to do to create a character of this species? Giving you credit, asking permission and such, of course. But if one were interested in making a character of this species, what would you require from them?

Hello! Sorry for such a late reply and thank you!!

But to start, my species are basically on hold indefinitely at this point, from the lack of interest from others (these are my oldest species) and other factors including the lack of time and I just haven't been inspired/able to work on any of my species. It all kinda fell off the wagon due to life circumstances. I do have plans on reviving them through other means, rather than through digital art pieces, but that is on the back burner at this point in time.

I have MYO slots for a small fee. If you are still interested in making one despite them being wholly inactive and unattended you are welcome to make one through MYO slots.
Thank you so much for your interest in my species.
