My character for
Rules permitting, I would like to eventually replace Nettle's Vine Whip with Frenzy Plant. It seems like a natural progression of Vine Whip + Growth, but it would be an Event Move, as I'm not planning to evolve her.

--- Name - Emerald

--- History
Emerald is the second youngest of the five children of a jeweler, who makes a good living selling pretty things. As a combative fourteen-year-old, with her oldest sister married, the next studying, and her brothers set to continue the business, Emerald found no one needed her to stay. No one forced her to leave either, but her obstinate streak won out once the idea had occurred, and she set out with Saur to go wherever she wanted, no matter whatever anyone said.

Away from home, she found no target for her belligerence - there was no one to object to her passing through the isolated forests of Kanto. She found she liked it that way. With just Saur and Nettle, Emerald gradually made her way to the coast, only seeking human company when she needed supplies. Over years, her essential luggage shrunk, until she was spending months at a time in the wilderness. Capturing Hydra allowed her to expand her horizons further, eventually to Unova as part of a ship's escort, though the crossing was a very near thing.

--- Personality
Emerald's primary motive for traveling has been intense curiosity, and a love for the wilds She never intended to go so far, and has long meant to return home - just after exploring along one last valley, down that river, across that range...and so on.

Rejoining civilization has not been easy. Her motive for emerging is simple - fear. Specifically, forced conscription into any army terrifies her, as a lone young woman with powerful Pokemon, but not powerful enough that they couldn't be taken from her. So long out of the habit, Emerald is a creature of few words, and she struggles with the limits of what is 'common knowledge' for most people - for example she feels the distinction between an aggressive Gyarados, and one who wants her teeth cleaned ought to be blindingly obvious.

Dress codes are the other thing - Emerald is accustomed to wearing as much as the weather dictates, and no more. She now owns a dress, in addition to stockings and a shirt, but she still deems that the scandalized reaction to her summer garb was excessive.

Pokemon
--- Saur/Ivysaur
Emerald's first Pokemon, and the only one to evolve in her company. Saur is quick to attack, and attack hard. She hates being touched (or recalled to her Pokeball), and will refuse outright unless she is warned in advance. Anyone besides Emerald is liable to take a Razor Leaf to the face either way, and her warning shots at her trainer leave no room for error.

Her Hidden Power attack is Fire-typed, and enabled Emerald to venture into colder territories than would have otherwise been possible. In its charging phase, it is virtually indistinguishable from a Solar Beam (though it charges much faster and has so taken many opponents by surprise).

--- Nettle/Ivysaur
Nettle was captured as an Ivysaur, and is only discernible from her counterpart by her calmer disposition. If Saur is the self-appointed vanguard of the group, Nettle is the tactician, barring Emerald's intervention. Both Ivysaurs make judicious use of their Sweet Scent to slow down foes, but Nettle offers little warning for when hers is laced with Poison Powder. She will often switch places with Saur, under the screen of Sweet Scent, with her vines grown to impressive size and strength.

--- Hydra/Gyarados
The memory of how Emerald came to be in possession of a fully evolved Gyarados is partially suppressed. It did involve leaping from a cliff onto one of several leviathan-like heads rising out of savage waters. It must have made sense at the time, but Emerald has since been at a loss to explain her reasoning.

Hydra is still a fledgeling Gyarados, long enough in her adult form to move with grace, but with more growth ahead of her. While she can't be called gentle, she is not vindictive, and accepts Emerald's leadership.
