Kingdom Hearts belongs to Square Enix and Disney.Kinda large rant. But it's all solid. I got peeved at the Xion haters.

I so agree with this. I think most haters hate her because she breaks up Akuroku and Rokunami. Like when they say Xion is Sora and shouldn't be with Roxas, they forget Namine is half Sora too, lol.

To be fair, I believe Xion was supposed to be a deconstruction of the Mary Sue: she has all of the elements of an Orgy XIII sue (Friends with Axel and Roxas, becomes Roxas's sort-of girlfriends, also happens to be a Keyblade wielder, angsts a lot, has speshul powers, has a cool-sounding name with an X in it that may or may not anagram into something, dies tragically and beautifully, makes up a lot of the characters' motivations), though her role is less "wish fulfillment" and more "humanoid abomination". In that sense, she kind of is a Mary Sue, even if she is a takedown of the subject. It's not not there, is what I'm saying.
While I don't hate on Xion, she's not my favorite among Sora's headmates. I'm not a fan of how she's more-or-less retconned into the story (Which I suspect was for the purpose of giving Axel and Roxas a good old helping of the Totes Not Gay), even if she ended up getting retconned out later. Also, again, she does make up more of certain characters' motivations in Days than I'm entirely comfortable with; in particular, that fight at Memory's Skyscraper (indeed, the whole reason Roxas went back to the World That Never Was in the first place) was more-or-less due to her. That said, it's been a while since I played Days, so maybe I'm blowing Xion's role in events out of proportion.
Personally, I think that Namine did the Mary Sue deconstruction better than Xion, mostly because Namine actually screwed with the characters' heads. She inserted herself into Sora's memories, slowly overwrote his memories of Kairi with herself, erased Sora, Donald, and Goofy's memories (and it's implied she even erased the memories of Sora from everyone he's ever met), and basically almost turned Sora into her mindless pawn (at the behest of Marluxia, but still). Xion? "Merely" drained the life-force out of Roxas, but didn't screw with anyone beyond "looks different to different people". But that's just my opinion.

People rant at her being tragic, did they ever played Birth by sleep or thought of Roxas? I like Xion but it's funny that in Days ALL meetings are about her being missing, a traitor or about her origins.

Xion is a great character. She has the action and the drama in 358/2 Days. Her death is tragic, and why not? Nearly everyone loved Xion for her character, personality, and her role.

Saix's death is by no means "tragic", at least not for me. Seeing the ratbastard fade was one of the most satisfying parts of the entire game.

Demyx? He's more of a peacekeeper, he doesn't fight, he doesn't want to start any fights, all he wants is peace. He was an interesting character, and a good fighter, but his death didn't any drama. Saix as well, he may of been second in command, but all he was, ever be, will be ever, a roadblock. Axel, we understood his role, and his death was truly tragic. Sacrificing himself to help us.

I personally think that Kairi is the biggest mary sue in the series (KH characters that is) - she doesn't really have a personality at all, she just walks on the beach staring blankly and crying for little to no reason, like, "I'm weak, sensitive, pretty and I can't take care of myself", i know that she is kind and good and all that just like Sora, not that its a bad thing it's just that we have seen this boring and bland character before. At least it looks like *SPOILERS* she will have a better role in KH III being a keyblade master and all, so maybe she'll end up doing something interesting for a change. So i guess there is hope for her as a character... As for Xion being hated on for her "emo-ness" - well, she has all the reasons in the world to be depressed, seriously think of her story! She is the most tragic character in the whole series for god's sake XDΒ

I'm not sure your assessment is correct. I've only ever seen Kairi cry ONCE. Also, "weak"? Tell that to the Heartless she One-Hit KO'd within seconds of getting her Keyblade, when Sora needed a full three-hit combo.

Xion was the embodiment of Sora's memories and feelings of Kairi. Actually, Xion is my favorite character to play as and draw. She humanizes the cold and bitter Roxas we see throughout Days.

Xion actually is related to Kairi. She looks the way she does because Sora's memories seeped into her. His strongest at the time were his memories of Kairi. Depending on your relationship with Sora, you can see Xion in different ways. SaΓ―x, who had no relations with Sora prior to Kingdom Hearts 2, saw her as a puppet. Roxas, Sora's own nobody, saw her as Xion. Axel compares Xion to NaminΓ© as he never saw Kairi prior to KH2. Xemnas' view varied.

Xion is a deconstruction of the Mary Sue concept. At first glance, she's exactly like a self-insert character β she's the 14th member of the Organization, she looks like Kairi, she can wield the Keyblade, and is friends with Axel and Roxas. However, it turns out her entire existence is a lie β all of the Organization members aside from Roxas either think she should be destroyed or only want her alive to further their own goals, the nature of her existence means she and Roxas cannot co-exist without one of them killing the other, and once she dies people instantly begin to forget she ever existed. Even in-universe, most characters think she has no right to exist and it would be better for the sake of Roxas and Sora if she didn't.

This is so true. Another problem Xion-haters seem to have is that she seemingly "came out of nowhere, with no indication whatsoever from previous games." While I can understand what they mean by that, they need to remember that her existence was erased, so therefore, so were any memories of her. And if anyone thinks this is just an excuse to justify her existence, it isn't - the KH creators conceptualized Xion during the time they were still making KH 2 and were coming up with Roxas's backstory.

You pointed out individual flaws - not all the characters had the combo Xion did.

Actually I can think of one character who has most of those characteristics. And that would be Aqua, think about it Aqua, has a keyblade, looks like kairi, is connected to Kairi, and ends up stuck in the realm of darkness at the end of BBS. The only characteristic she doesn't share with Xion is that Aqua isn't a "cock-block" to a couple that isn't even canon to begin with.

The only problem i see with xion is that she is underutilized. SHe has a very interesting existance that isnt explored enough. Shes instead used to move axel and roxas' stories forward instead if her own. See the comic term "women in refrigerators"

Yeah, I only dislike Yaoi when it's totally in-your-face... I have nothing against gay people, I just feel like it's OOC. Thank you!! I personally love Xion, and it gets super annoying to walk down the hallway at a con dressed as her, and have half a dozen different people shout out "MARY SUE!!" at me, meanwhile the derp claiming to be cosplaying Bella Swan is being adored.
