Some sketches I wanted to do to built up Kobe's backstory, I spent quite a while on this and I'm way more excited about him now. c:
I may add onto this, but this is what I came up for his backstory so far:

Ages 5-8: Kobe's parents divorced when he was too young to remember, he noticed his father always stressed over work and things and just wanted him to find someone he could be happy with. Many of the times his father would neglect him and was the stereotypical "asian parent" that expected a lot out of him. Kobe at the time was pretty sheltered in, and didn't really have friends. What Kobe didn't know is that his father originally seperated from his mother because she had a transforming mutation that his father was afraid would shock Kobe at a young age, and they both agreed it'd be safer for him.

Ages 9-12: Kobe first discovered his fox traits, he was surprised at first but then wanted to share it with the world, until their negative feedback came. His father was angry with himself when he knew Kobe had inherited his mother's genes, and felt as if he had traded his love away all those years ago for nothing. His father expressed more hatred towards him as he got older, and expected more out of him. Kobe realized that this wasn't a gift, but a curse.

Ages 13-16: By this time Kobe wanted to keep his fox side a secret, though had trouble controlling his outbursts. He'd try really hard to fit in- but being half fox, 5'1", an outcast things were difficult. Girls would reject him no matter how sweet he was towards them because no one wanted to be seen with the fox freak. Nights when his father would be upset towards him he'd sneak out and sleep in the forest because it felt more than natural in his fox form. He grew entirely introverted and would shy away from everyone. From as soon as his fox side started to peak, he usually only gets 2-3 hours of sleep a day becoming an insomniac and somewhat nocturnal.

Ages 17-19: He learned how to control himself more, and would go out in the forest a lot to practice his transformations. He has it mainly down, though has more trouble with his tail so it's out more of the time. He learned not to let things people's words get to him so much and that he should accept himself as he is. For a long time he was un-sure on his sexuality, but took time to figure himself out and realized he wasn't really interested in girls as much as he had thought. At 19 he works at a fancy dining restaurant as a waiter/pianist and the customers find him charming. He gets excited when a little kid wants to pet his tail, or if he receives positive questions towards his 'other half'. He lives in a small apartment away from his father and is still quiet, but sincere and more comfortable with himself now than he ever was.
