Eliphas, Taldeer, and Thule--three of the most competent Warhammer commanders I have ever seen come out of the DOW series.

Actually, come to think of it, they are the only competent commanders to come out of the series--maybe Shas'O Kais as well, but that's stretching it.

What about Sindri Myr? He effectively usurped position as his warband's leader and ascended to Daemonhood, in addition to slaughtering a planet and corrupting Isador Akios.

I though O'Kais was a pretty decent commander, not great maybe but a lot better than some of the maniacs put in charge.

i could say that there were only 6 competent commanders o kais, or es ka, lukas alexander, taldeer, davian thule and the dawn of war 2 force commander that you can name. the rest well lets take a look at their incompitence boreale lost the kaurava conflict and killed a good number of blood ravens leaving them open to attack in dawn of war 2 gabriel angelos called an exterminatus on his homeworld because of 1 idiot celena agna was a suicadal/genocidal maniac of a zealot vance stubbs is a coward the necron lords always get buerid for who knows how long at least twice tarhil is a slaver that backstabbed his boss as well as a coward the chaos lords end up as sacrifices due to their losses as their punishment and the worst one warlord gorgutz not only is he a coward which is very un orky but a sore loser that has a hard time recovering from his losses

Hmmm...I'd put Tau as Neutral Good, Space Marines as Lawful Good, Eldar as True Neutral, Sisters of Battle as Chaotic Good, Imperial Guard as Lawful Neutral, Chaos as Chaotic Evil (it's in the name) and Dark Eldar as Neutral Evil. By the way, I like it anyways.

I am glad to join the Cadre Commander!

Yeah... only if it were true, since by that alingment chart all races in the 40k universe are neutral evil (the exeption being orks who are chaotic neutral).

Red-Jirachi-2 In reply to gdpr-1688292 [2014-03-19 04:01:31 +0000 UTC]

That's what has always prevented me from wanting to play a part: ALL the sides are evil, and there's no reason to care who wins because it will ALWAYS end badly. Why care?

Red-Jirachi-2 In reply to gdpr-1688292 [2014-03-21 08:16:20 +0000 UTC]

Real world leaders who act like the "heroic" Tau and Imperium tend to be remembered as history's monsters. At least their agenda isn't as utterly deranged

True since all races will willingly commit genocide, except for the Orks who just kill and fight for fun.
Makes me want to be an Ork, actually.

JTS0 In reply to Nightbringer24 [2010-03-18 19:34:01 +0000 UTC]

I'd argue the Tau are a little better than that, not much but unlike most races they'll actually give a chance to give in. Which is more than almost anyone else gives. And their obssession with order means they are Lawful Neutral some of the time, Lawful Evil other times and they dream of being Lawful Good. Whether they are is up to debate but they'd like to be.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Nightbringer24 In reply to JTS0 [2010-03-19 15:25:34 +0000 UTC]

I see your point of thinking. But I believe that it really depends on the commander.
Btw: can you please tell me what it means by chaotic neutral and chaotic good? I have a slight feeling it's D&D thing.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JTS0 In reply to Nightbringer24 [2010-03-19 16:56:27 +0000 UTC]

Maybe so, maybe so, but thats how they try to act.

Well Chaotic Good is people like Robin Hood, people who will break the rules but generally with some noble purpose in mind. Chaotic Neutral is free spirits a bit like Jack Sparrow, they have the capacity to be good and brave, but they also have the capacity to be selfish and cruel, it depends on how they feel.

So how would you describe a radical inquisitor?

JTS0 In reply to Nightbringer24 [2010-03-20 00:25:32 +0000 UTC]

And by that I mean more ruthless than most Inquisitors are anyway.

The Imperium are definitely Lawful. The emperor is a living embodiment OF law, opposing the Chaos Gods.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Elnxida In reply to doodlebugRP [2013-12-03 04:41:20 +0000 UTC]

The Emperor is also the embodiment of evil, because he killed a priest and burned down his church simply because he believed in a religion after humiliating him in a "battle of wits"*... Not to mention countless civilians who didn't accept him as their leader and god.

*Look up "Uriah Olathaire" on the Warhammer 40k wikia for the full story. It's quite interesting.
