This video helped me a LOT in learning how to cut a long wig short. I used it when I did my Maka wig as well as one of my Ahiru ones. I keep forgetting to link it.

This wig probably took about an hour give or take. I kept distracting myself. 8D;
I can't seem to escape from ahoge-styles.
(EDIT) OK so like....right after I styled the wig the ahoge was bothering me so I fixed it the next day. xD; And after wearing the wig once to AX, I decided it really needed to be trimmed more. So this is the fixed version! It bothered me that I still had the old style up.

I had a lot of extra hair left over from this wig so I made a separate little hair piece for "Nantucket"/the ahoge.
I glued and hairsprayed it to keep it all together. I cut a very small slit into the top of the wig and put the hair piece through and hot glued it underneath, inside the wig so it stays in place. I covered that glue with a small piece of fabric just to keep it sealed.
It also helped to put a hair pin (or bobby pin) at the base of the ahoge to keep it up more.
