Description Second in my Redwall pieces. Trying to continue this kinda "Painted on Parchment" look to the pics. Think I achieved it much better in this one.

Anyways, this pic is again taken from the first book in the series simple titled "Redwall" where Matthias and Warbeak are making the perilous climb up through the abbey rafters to reach the attic, home to the Sparrows. The background sucks lol not happy with it at all but I spose cos I spent more time on the characters and then threw in a basic background. I need to work on my backgrounds more methinks . Am quite proud of how Warbeak came out as it's the first time I've drawn a Sparrow and I very very very rarely draw birds. Not sure I got all the proportions right but I do like the colouring on it

One thing I've noticed about working this way in Photoshop is how the different layer blends can mimic certain paint styles. Used quite a different combinations to get the final effects seen here. There was also another version which had sunlight streaming through the window in the background but it jus didn't go with the "painted" kinda look of the rest of it, so ya.

Again, included the pencils and tweaked them to look like they were drawn directly onto parchment.

Why crazy mouse feed Warbeak?
Why queen Warbeak not killy-killy?

Heh, looks rather cute! Very detailed, and I love that you drew Warbeak as a real sparrow with proper brown and grey colouring (rather than the all-grey of the Nelvana cartoon)

These pieces are my favorites, though. You make amazing illustrations.
Also--you got my vote for the AOA contest--best of luck to you.

Ahhh, the redwall series is awesome, but I went for the newest one in a long time
This kicks ass, as if it was an illustration in the book!

You should so keep doing this. I loved the way the sparra talked. Shame they got killed in Mattimeo really.

Well, I'm 21 and I still read them and don't find them too simple To be honest, I think the series takes a more simplistic approach and is aimed at a slightly younger audience.

I wasn't sure if the reading level would be too simple for me (I tried rereading "Charlotte's Web" recently...didn't work out)...If they're good enough I'll most certainly make a venture to do such.

I -love- how this came out. ^0^ <3<3

The whole little kingdom of sparrows living in the abbey was just something I adored. <3 And you've done a marvelous job with it, here! =3 <3

It makes me want to take yet another stab at drawing some of my own favourite characters. (I've always had a great fondness for the Badger Lord Russano the Wise)

Not to mention making me want to go fetch my Redwall books and read some of them. XD =3 <3<3<3
