Description The working title for this was "The Essence of Fur," but I went with "Wild Shape" to cater more towards gaming companies. Still, it represents my place within furry fandom. I don't like the negative stereotypes, and I hate it when people assume things about me. I just really like animals. Always have, always will. I like to give animals human form in my art because it shows a connection between the two. It is all too easy for humans to forget that we are members of the animal kingdom as well, primates in fact. It's somewhat spiritual also, and the animals represented here are spirits that I have met or envisioned in dreams and meditations. I started this about a year ago, when I thought my spirit form was feline and have since found out that I "am" actually a wolf. I don't have delusions that I actually AM an animal of course, it's just a sense from a past life.

As for the gaming portfolio description: This image depicts a Druid transforming into an ocelot. She is surrounded by animal spirits and companions, any of which she could have chosen the form of, but for this adventure a feline shape was most appropriate. Yeah.

I think I spent more time on this than on any other image I've done. It took me a year to finish with other things getting in the way and me losing interest for a while. But I am happy with the results. Please like it. I used watered-down acrylics, marker, coloured pencil, pastel, and a touch of silver Sharpie.

Hi there!
^skifi is too busy (he says busy, I say lazy!) to let you know, so I've been asked to tell you that you're featured in his regular anthro feature, here:

Congratulations, it's certainly deserved.

..WOW. I can tell you put a lot in this! Honestly, you didnt even have to explain the passion you have for animals when you displayed such passion in this piece. Each one of these animals were done with extreme effort and they all look like they can actually jump right off the page. You did an excellent job, and thats really all I can say here.

geesh. wow. That's good art, and something freaky in the comments.
>__> I saw a book on meditation. sadly, I couldn't get it or risk running out of my own money. And it was spirit world type stuff. I'm not sure if I believe in that type of thing or not.

I don't care if you don't believe me. You're not the one who pays me.
It may be worth reading up on. Not necessarily to believe it, but to understand the beliefs of others.

Sorry, I'm just a wee bit paranoid when people describe my thoughts as "freaky."
There was a site called Spirit Online that I thought of directing you to... but it doesn't seem to exist anymore.

Lol. Well, my thoughts are kind of freaky. I wish I could remember my dreams better too, or at least "see" better in them.

Wow! This is truly an amazing piece of art
A year to complete? I can completely empathise with that!

The colours, the detail, the different media you used...it all boils down to perfection
I'm with Wolf-of_north, why in hell has this not got as many comments and faves as it deserves?
So many pictures with far less effort and work put into it gets 100's. This deserves far more! *reckons she should feature it in her next journal*

Anyway. I read your explanation and I love what it represents. It's so true that man forgets that he too (by he...I kinda mean our species/race...) is a primate and part of the animal kingdom. Pity we're not as 'civilised' and 'humane' as we're meant to be. We truly do act like animals sometimes

Ack I'll stop rambling now! Amazing piece and I shall fave it!

Ah, there's a lot of details that can't be seen in this image until it's opened in Full View. For example, the tiny mouse on the ocelot-shaman's shoulder, and the stars glittering in the swirling lavender mist. It's full of surprises like that for people who look at it closely enough and search through the whole image.

This piece is so full of feeling... This is beautiful, in particular the ecstatic and blissful expression of the transforming shaman.

I'm happy to see that all of the animals are drawn accurately... looks like you did research to make this painting just right and to capture the lively essence of the different animals portrayed.

Wolf-of-north [2006-06-27 03:54:12 +0000 UTC]

Why, whywhywhy, in god's name does this have so few favorites and comments?? It's such a beautiful piece, with a general good feeling coming from it... The colors are vivid and well-chosen, the textures are just incredible, and I LOVE THIS PIECE!!!

Really, this is one of my favorite anthro pieces i've ever seen because it not only shows that there is still a connection between animals and anthros, but something else. The ocelot just seems like she's supposed to be that way, you know? Sometimes, you see anthro art that just looks unnatural, but this one just looks right.

And you know what? I never would have seen it if it were not for *knight-owl 's journal. O_O
I must fave this and go watch you now. Brilliant work!

TTFN,
- Evan

This is really beautiful. I love the awe-inspiring symbolism and emotion in addition to the raw talent poured into it. The ocelot herself looks amazing, appearing attractive and accurate in form and color. This piece also shows off your skills with animals of all types, as every creature within the pic is equally as well done.

Gorgeous work! This is truly amazing.
