Corrupted leaves and dust roiled about the fallen woman the moment her knees failed, sending her crashing to the forest floor. The great Faun turned to face her.
His allegiance to the denizens of the Forest compelled him to ensure the young elf's safety; wildlife scampered away beyond him as he plunged his staff into the earth, a bright blue light emanating from its prongs.
Even as the Decay surged ever closer, consuming the trees and grass in its fatal grasp, he reached out for her, unwavering.

The Dark Faun of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2... damn, Mercury Steam's artists really know their stuff. I haven't seen a single boss design from either of the two Lords of Shadow games yet that wasn't pretty much badass. The Faun has this air of god-hood, like some ancient forest deity, and I figured it would be nice to portray him that way, helping the poor and (relatively) defenseless creatures of the forest escape their imminent doom.
The idea I had for the Decay or Corruption here was this swarm of locusts and mosquitoes formed of a fel purple-black energy, that consumed all life within its reach.
Maybe it'll make a more definitive appearance as more than an angry looking fog\dirt some other time.
