Description
Piece one of my senior thesis, based on the Arabian Nights story The Second Kalandar's Tale. It's a big mess of a story within a story within another story (ugh), but I focused on, well, two or three pages of it and made it a children's book! Princes turned into monkeys by giant fire-ball jinni, one kinda dumb king and his princess daughter who kicks butt with ninja sorcery (the ninja part my own imagination going haywire... but she is a sorceress, I swear) and plenty of faerie cameos. Then it all wraps up cleanly with a five-hour-or-so fight scene! Wheeee! So anyways, ahem, this piece here is just an idea of how Sitt al-Husn (our ninjitsu adept) came to be the sword-wielding, fire-breathing heroine of this little tale. It's her school desk, I suppose.
Pencil drawing with digital color and some fun fun type.

Nice work. It is nice to find another children's book illustrator on DA. Your text treatments are very good and I am happy to see high quality artwork going to children's book. I often find the art in children's book today are sub par.
