..Why did this get a DD? Its just achievement pictures. Sure its pretty good work for Pixel Art, but comon. I've seen some pixel art a bit better then this with almost no views and such.

i shouldn't be here given explanations as to why i pick each Dd, but i beleieve it would clear any doubts in the future.
each GM has its own parameters when deciding what is and what is not worth as a DD. usually they base these parameters in their own knowledge of the medium, the technique present in the image, the development of the concept, and so on.
problem with pixel art, on my case, is that at most an under rated medium right now at deviantART. surely, you see just a bunch of achievement of pictures, but just as the author replied later to your comment making icons its not just throwing shit on a canvas and watch it form stuff as it flows to the ground. not to mention the technique and skills used on the image are really remarkable. it may sound silly and you may actually do not notice, but thats the problem, some DDs like this one would only appeal to specific communities and they are the ones who would appreciate their value beyond its subject(in contrast with other DD's whoc an appeal a large audience).
dA's is a pool of unlimited forms of art, as such, one must learn about others outside one's medium/comfort zone in order to discover what lies beyond whatone can see at first sight. that would not only help you improve and wider your vision as an artist, but also it makes you lose weight and gives you baby-soft skin.
trust me, my skin is as soft as any other baby butt you have ever seen.

hey, I've seen a horrible quality photograph of a fat old woman nude on the DD's o_e but rememeber, the artist doesn't choose, so posting a comment on the deviation to them wont really help, they don't know.

That's a reasonable comment, honestly, if a bit stern, but you should be careful. Remember this principle: if a DD doesn't make sense to you, keep in mind that the people in charge have to pick one for each category every single day. No matter what. I'm sure it must get crazy after a while sorting through all the suggestions they get.
Oh, and about 80% of the really great and amazing art on this site gets almost no views. That's something else you'll learn very quickly, if you're new.

in order to defeat that %80 of great art is that DDs exist. each DD is an instant feature to each artist and their gallery.

If you mean what I think you mean, that's true, but there is the downside that at least someone has to notice it before it can even be suggested. I'm not sure there would be a way to fix that, so I'm not complaining. I'm just saying.
By the way, I am not at all saying your piece should not have gotten a DD. I am rather impressed; doing icons is not easy. It requires a careful balance between detail and simplicity, and you have done an excellent job of it here. I think this was fully worthy of a pixel art DD, and I'll say so right now.

its ok, i understand. dealing with all the drama these DD's cause its part of our job, and sometimes even we feel its unfair that we can't feature everyone we think that deserves the exposure.
but then, people doesnt "deserve" DDs. people earns it and the only way to earn then is to max out their abilities and techniques to show the best of themselves, not to get a DD, but instead for their own sake. if you work hard and improve every day, its a matter of time before people will notices and appreciates what you do.

That's probably truer of the visual ones than of the literary ones; sometimes it really does seem that they were picked out of a hat. But I'm not complaining; I didn't join this site for easy exposure, and I hate drama more than any other specific thing in life. I'm a little surprised that you took the time to respond to me, and I'm pleased that you did, but I didn't need any comforting on that score, so you don't need to worry about that. Certainly I didn't mean to cause any trouble.

I think you'r a bit harsh here - designing Icons that describe the topic as best as possible are a challange in itself. Also, considering 'exposure': That's something I question quite a lot, especialy how many 'same picture as ever' by 'the same guy as ever' get on the frontpage... all the time ( I won't be calling names here)
