Research papers are highly overrated.
90% of what I draw is done when I was supposed to be doing something else.
Popping in to comment! I really like your work. Your style is cute and unique. Plus, you draw Tokka... which gives you automatic bonus points. They are pretty much the only ship I actually have STRONG opinions about. You have a great sense of scene, which is something I need to work on.

Yeah, Tokka's pretty much my big Avatar ship. I like Kataang too, but not enough to really want to write/draw it. And Zutara is blahhhhh. And Suki/Sokka bores me.

I gotta say, I like your art, and I think your style is really unique. The only thing I've noticed about your Tokka pics that kind of bugs me a little is that Toph is always portrayed as weaker, or in danger, and Sokka comes to the rescue for her. It makes for cute pics and all, but really, I think Toph would be the one to save Sokka from danger any day, you know? She's a lot more hardcore than you're portraying her in your pics, and I think a Toph-topping picture would be really fun to see you draw.

I really haven't seen any other Tokka art by SquirrelTamer, but I really kind of like their concept of Toph being weak. I think its very, well, how to word it? Its very... Its very sweet, touching, maybe? Whatever. I just think it would be a sweet concept of Toph being tough and rough all the time, but only submitting herself to a savior like Sokka. You know? Like shes big and bad, but Sokka is the only person she will let herself be weak for. Like he is her only weakness. You know? I can't figure out how to explain it really...

Except that throughout the series, we see that Toph isn't weak around Sokka, and she's also very prideful. So even if she did love Sokka THAT much, there's still her pride, which is a pretty tough wall to break down.

Oh god, I know Toph is awesome. I don't mean to make her seem weaker and I really don't think of her as weak. Actually, I kind of think she's probably tied with Katara for strongest character on the show.
I have a part that comes after this where Sokka jumps to save her and she's like: "And that was supposed to help me how?" and he's like: "Well it seemed like a good idea at the moment..." and then they're falling and Sokka tries to whip up some HIDDEN AIRBENDING POWERS, but it obviously doesn't work and then Toph's like: "Idiot" and then Appa swoops in to save the day.
I think she seems weak in a lot of my drawings, because I like that vulnerable side of Toph. I like putting her in situations that make her uncomfortable.
But yeah, I need to draw Toph saving Sokka more. And there should be more shenanigans.
Also, I know this is gonna sound silly, but I haven't seen you around in a long time. I kind of fell out with a lot of KND stuff awhile ago, but I remember how much I loved your gallery. You still keeping up with drawing? I sure hope so.

Oh, Sokka. The only hidden powers he has are sword-slinging and meat-eating. :3 That idea sounds hi-larious, though.
Ahaha, oh wow, I haven't drawn KND in years. The fandom just isn't what it used to be, so I kind of fell out of it myself along with quite a few others. But I still lurk on DA, though I don't post much art nowadays. It's very rare when I do since I've been struggling with developing my own style that I'm actually happy with. It makes me smile to know that someone liked my stuff, though. ^__^
I actually have TONS of ideas for Avatar fanart and the like, but I'm usually too busy with work or writing that it gets put on the backburner.
For now I just keep up with everyone's galleries and admire at all the shiny art, like yours. (I've always really liked your unique style.)

developing your own style is good and i hope you get to a point where you really start to enjoy it. I have a love/hate relationship with my own.

Mostly just stuff with original characters. I still do a lot with my beloved "Sector X" kids, though I've removed them from the KNDverse. ;D
A lot of it is in locked entries on Livejournal, but I may post a few things on DA someday.
