History
Born in Wellstone, Tess was a rambunctious, boisterous child with big dreams of adventure and fame. When she was 17, she ran off to join a highwayman gang, where she learned to fight, steal, and slowly, the band started to make a name for itself on the trade routes between Wellstone and Seajewel. At 23, she was loud, cunning, and fancied herself quite the dashing rogue.

Then her gang robbed a particular caravan heading into Wellstone.

At first, it seemed fine. They made off with a sizable amount of fine alcohol and money, and during the afterparty, Tess accepted a dare to drink a particularly strange bottle found among the bourbon. Which is how Tess became, now and forever, Tess and Perry.

It’s been nearly five years since then. Tess has started to make a new name for herself, as something of an urban legend, haunting the roads. Her old gang is long disbanded, and the strangeness of being two beings in one head has largely worn off. Perry, the moving shadow bound to her, has developed quite a bit of its own personality, being excitable and active, and quite eager to assist in a bit of highway robbery. The two of them have managed to form a rather necessary, but still fond bond with each other.

Personality
Of the two, Tess is notably more gruff and grumpy. She doesn’t mince words or waste time, and has little patience for nonsense. However, a lot of this is due to the fact that she is almost constantly dealing with some level of fatigue brought on by her excitable and active hanger-on.

Still, she is a resourceful and successful highwayman, and when she’s not completely wiped out, she’s known to put on quite a bit of charm. Part of her still enjoys being the center of attention, and besides- if she’s going to rob someone, surely, she should make an exciting story out of it. It’s just a shame that she now lends herself more to horror than to adventure.

But do not be fooled- You don’t make it as a highwayman by being soft, and Tess is more than willing to gut someone if they prove too much trouble. After all, it’s not about giving you a story to tell- it’s about spreading her own mythos, and despite what they say, dead curio do tell some sobering tales.

Perry is much more personable. Or they would be, if communication weren’t so hard. They’re pretty good at charades though, and are learning how to draw. After five years, they've developed quite a notable personality- they're optimistic, cheerful, and maybe a bit naive. They're also incredibly active, being an incessant drain on Tess’s aura, often leaving her completely wiped by accident. They try to make up for it by being helpful, at times functioning as Tess’s literal right hand, other times as something of a bodyguard. This usually only makes her even more tired.

The two are- quite literally- inseparable, and have learned to make the best of their situation. More or less.
