Hey all! Here we have my first submitted Zhao pic! I haven't drawn this guy a whole lot, but I tried off-hand the other night and I couldn't believe I drew this. Likely the best drawing I've ever done of him. Makes me want to draw him more.

The concept for this pic was directly inspired by a song called, "Your Ex-Lover Is Dead," by Stars. That's quote at the beginning's really the title I wanted, but knowing DA, I couldn't fit that in, so I cut it down. At the beginning of the song, a guy says it in a really awesome voice and when I first heard it I went O_O "Dude...nice..." Then I heard the rest of the song and it was good but had nothing to do with the quote. It was about getting introduced to someone a person used to be romantically involved with... But Set Yourself On Fire is the name of the song after it as well as the name of the album. So I dunno. I just really love that quote.

So then, I wondered how I could put that awesome quote into art. Of course firebenders come to mind. I thought Jeong Jeong at first...but it's kinda the opposite of his premise. Then I thought, "Of course! Zhao!" So I tried drawing him once and went "bleh..." So, though I felt it wasn't as good, I drew Zuko and liked it...but then a couple of nights ago I really felt it should be Zhao so I tried once and got this. Love it neee. So I scanned it in, I had the idea for the background already. Fire eeeverywhere. I also wanted to give him that cloth people wear in an Agni Kai and it would be burning. I felt that the quote worked best with Zhao, what with his, "lack of control" and all that. I figure at his base instincts, maybe if Zhao had no political aspirations, he's wanna burn everything...it makes more sense in my head. So when there's nothing left to burn, he's setting himself on fire...or something... Apparently his pants aren't included in things to burn. They'll burn with him. Sorry Zhao fans...I just don't so much draw nude folks. So I wanted Zhao to have a certain look on his face. I don't know how to explain it, but I got it just like I wanted it.

So anyway, I love this concept and the pic. Decided it needed realistic coloring, so I took the extra time and did it. I hope you all like it!
