Description
This was originally intended to be part of a larger series depicting a World Cup set in an alternate history world where WW2 was a far more limited conflict, until I remembered I know nothing about football. So, with very little pre-amble, the German Volga Republic, in a world where the Volga Germans were never forcibly dispersed by Stalin. Halfway through this map I realised my source images were taken from a Polish encyclopedia, resulting in a last-minute attempt to re-Russi-Germanify the city and river names. I didn't find sources for most of them and I suspect some of the names are accordingly more Polish than they should be. The flag is my own creation in Inkscape, but heavily inspired by Xumarov 's effort here . I also only realised after polishing my version that the eleven kernels on the ear of corn represented the eleven provinces; my version only has 9, but I still have 11 provinces. Oh well.
