Inspired by aimmyarrowshigh 's effort here , together with several other attempts at mapping the world of the books, I whipped up this quick map of a post-apocalyptic North America, using AlternateHistory.com's worlda basemap. The book description - especially how one has to go through each District in turn to get to the capital, which contradicts other descriptions suggesting successive Districts do not always border on each other - doesn't actually make a lot of sense. aimmyarrowshigh had a pretty great idea in making the districts spiral outwards from the capital, and it's not entirely implausible to assume that if the USA had fallen to the point that law and order had to be reimposed from Denver, Districts are going to be allocated based on a mixture of distance from the capital and resource allocation.

This recently appeared in part in RvBOMally 's excellent Dystopia map which mashes up countless sci-fi dystopias into a single terrifying scenario.
