Description Something I worked up to help me get my headcanon straight when writing for the SCP Foundation , a found-document horror writing site (see my profile here ). In particular, I used this map to write my novel-length Chaos Insurgency Tale New Age , and the map is referenced in the Tale itself. Worth noting that the map and Tale are set before the Arab Spring.

I generally consider 'Sites' to be distinct from 'Sectors' - the infamous 'Site-19' is located in the Midwest which in my scheme would be Sector-6. The SCP Foundation grew out of American forebears like ASCI (the American Secure Containment Initiative) so it makes sense that the first Sectors would be in the USA, later expanding to cover the Western Hemisphere. It's stated in Conspiracy that Command-002 (the second most important Foundation site after Overwatch HQ) is in Washington DC, and that the Foundation's precursors antedate the Civil War, so that informed my choice of placement for the lower Sectors.

Otherwise Sectors were added as the powers controlling them decolonised or were otherwise opened to the Foundation - Germany and Italy after WW2, the ex-Soviet states after 1991. Iran is still very much external to the Foundation system in the current mythos - the IRG and now ORIA has been a frequent state-actor foil of the Foundation where its old Soviet counterpart, GRU Division 'P' has been disavowed by the Putin government. North Korea is vital to the containment of SCP-1427 but only in partnership with the KPA. Likewise Cuba has been established as keeping the Foundation at arm's length (and possibly working with the Insurgency).

Other red areas are my notion as to where the Chaos Insurgency has effective control - these are countries not mentioned in any article on the site at the time of the map's creation, begging the question whether the Foundation has any influence with their governments. My headcanon is that the Insurgency thinks of themselves as the "real" Foundation and would not use the term "insurgency" to describe themselves (they're more likely to call "our" Foundation the "reactionaries"). Their map would probably look similar, albeit with somewhat different sector boundaries over about Sector-27, but mostly red with just a few small areas of blue where the true Foundation, as they see it, is still hanging on.

Wait a sec is it Venezuela a bit related at least?

Yes, several skips are based in or mention Venezuela; and a power being hostile to the West doesn't necessarily mean it sides with the Chaos Insurgency rather than the Foundation. I can imagine the Bolivarian Revolution would have made things a bit tricky for Sector authorities, but Sector 16 would have been established long before that, likely in the early 20th century.

Either countries which do not work with the Foundation (Cuba, Iran, North Korea to some extent) or countries working with the splinter Foundation (called the Chaos Insurgency by the main Foundation).

:squints hard at the map: I literally cannot remember. Possibly I intended it to be Taiwan, though that doesn't gel with the fact that mainland China is lower than Japan. Alternatively, it could have been I assigned it to pre-Revolution Iran, which would mean there wasn't currently an active Sector-48.

An interesting version of the origin of the Fund, although likely incorrect.

Worth noting that New Age is set before much of the current upheaval in the Mid-East, so I haven't considered how this might factor into the Foundation/CI struggle. As mentioned, the areas shaded red (excluding Iran which is a state-actor GOI in its own right) were simply countries not mentioned in an SCP article up to that point, implying they did not have a Foundation presence.
