Here's a drawing of a simbakubwa hunting an hipparion in a swampy plain during the early Miocene.The simbakubwa (great lion) is an extinct species of mammal and it is in fact neither a lion, nor canine.
It was a huge predator witch might have surpassed the modern polar bear in size.
