Description
Just a quick piece done for all around swell guy Stephen R. Sobotka Jr based on an idea he shot my way.Hope you like it Stephen, go check his DA page and give him some love-deviant style!
Of course I draw a horrible Mr. Grimm but hopefully my Kitty is passable and they both belong to the groovy cats at MARVEL Comics.
Drawn on board with F lead and inked with Microns (.005 to .08) and brush and China Marker. To see some preliminary sketchwork for this piece and other wacky stuff not shown here on DA check my blog by clicking here!

Man, this came off hella awesome. I like the way you rendered the Thing's texture and it makes a nice contrast to Kitty's curvaceousness (which came out fine, no worries there)
Excellent work! Very well done!

Y'know I used to think that Spidey had a tough costume to draw. Very few artists actually GET how his webbing is suppose to flow. But Grimm here is quite the challenge too-living rock ain't no artistic picnic either.
All I could do was close my eyes and yell "IT'S CLOBBERIN' TIME!" while stabbing at the page with my pencils and hope for the best.
Thanks Lew!

I STILL think Spidey's costume is pretty tough to draw. It hasn't escaped my attention that at least three of the times they've given him a new outfit they've dropped the "webs on the suit" thing altogether.
Ben AND the Human Torch BOTH I'd imagine would have that kind of hassle, really--they both have those fiddly lines that you *have* to put in to make it work.
. . .I'm trying to imagine this in my head and frankly, the result is damn funny.
You're welcome, man!

Don't get better unless you put in the time, right?
Man, I just realized I got alot of time to put in then!

Awesome! I don't know when we'll be down in El Chuco again but I'll let you know before we travel down there so we can hang out and jam again.

Thanks, Shannon. Mr. Grimm is a tough cookie to draw.

Oh, phish. This is from a story I'm writing -- a tribute to Dave Cockrum -- and he's perfectly fine with where his hands are, since he and Kitty are a couple.

Poppycock! But that explains the, I'll call it, libidinous look on The Thing's face (don't ask how I can tell)! Carry on, good sir.

How did you get the ball so round? I mean the outline is a perfect circle. Impressive work here. The picture is also very funny and well drawn

Thanks for the kind words. The weight was inked using a circular template you can find at any decent art store. If one isn't readily available though I have been know to grab cups, glasses, plates, pretty much anything that's round and has an edge to ink with.

Awesome Kitty, and x-men Evolution style too! But ps - her last name is spelled Pryde...I wasn't sure if your spelling was on purpose or not.

Oh DAMN! You are totally correct! That's what happens when you upload stuff to DA in the wee early morning hours.
Thanks for catching that! Can I sketch something up for ya to show my appreciation?
Nice eye on Kitty being based on her EVO version for a +WIN!

Heh, well with the whole "people thought I was a female" thing due to your DA screename I wasn't sure and I didn't want to step on any toes as it were.
But all that aside, thanks Pat!

Really? Aside from the couple of artists who drew this paring for me, who else has been showing Ben/Kitty love?

Holy-Hanna, Sweet Bannana!
This was the last thing I was expecting to see this morning, but it's totally made the start to my day! Fantastic work! You did great on both characters, Dan. I'd say you draw a VERY passable Ben Grimm, and Kitty just looks totally fab!
You, sir, are all-around awesome! Thank you so very very much for this gift!

Glad you liked it, Stephen!
I've actually never really drawn The Thing so I'm a bit self-concious of my rendition of him. He's such a visually cool and original looking character that I just want to do my best possible version of him every time.

Well, if drawing has an equivalent to baseball, you hit a grand slam with your version of him, Dan.
I seriously have got to work out a four or five page script, showing how Ben and Kitty interact in my story, just to let you continue with what you've done with the characters here. Let me know if and ever when your work load lightens up for another go at something like that . . . might be something I could put forward as a commission for too.
Thanks again for the gift of both your talent and your friendship, Dan! Apreciate them both very much!
