That'll tell you all you need to know about the Maxx that the drawing is based on. Don't know if it's the same one you're talking about but it was originally a comic book, then a tv show and did have a figure made from McFarlane Toys back in the day and I think some figurines and statues too.

My gosh, you actually made it into the comic??? That's really cool. *envy* And yes! Drawing organic is good! Do not discourage your wife from doing so! The colors might scan grainy, but at least they're real and have texture.
Oddly, though your style is different than Kieth's, I see details that look a lot like his way.

You both are absolutely amazing. I always find it really interesting how women are so color-detailed while men focus more on the details of lineart. This is just a perfect example of that and I love it! Amazing work, both of you!
