As I've been away from art for some time with all my course work for my diploma I am finding that I am out of practice. With 4 commissions immediately upon announcing that I'll be doing art again I found that I was more than a little rusty having not picked up my pencils for any serious work since December 2018!
So, what better way to get back into the swing of things than something from my favourite film, Labyrinth. Drawing stuff from this always makes me feel better and was great for getting me back into using the old polys once again. It's not great, and there's a few mistakes on the face and background but I chalking that down to the time away from art. Now being used for wedding invitations for a friend
In between this project, I started 2 of the 4 commissions and it helped a great deal, especially as they were different in subject and style. With this being grey scale, one animal realism and one animated style it was good to alternate between them all to get used to each type and to take a break from one if I needed it. I'll be posting those when they've been given to the intended recipients so until then, it'll be a mix of animal work, portraits and fan art like before, just not as much as I used to do as I still have a lot of revision between now and January.
Done with polychromos pencils and built up in layers, utilising my pressure application and layering techniques, the picture consists of 8 colours.
