I've been experimenting with my new 'knock off Copic' markers since Inktober so I thought as I'm now in a new job and have a lot less time, I need something quick that I can experiment with in my lunch hours.
They have some fantastic names for the colours which don't seem to match what they are but you can't have everything - lol
This is basically like going back to the beginning for me and starting from scratch!
When I first started with the Polychromos pencils that I use all the time now, I spent six months just experimenting with them to see what I could do with them. Now it's time to do the same with these. I suspect that by the end of the year I'll be using them alongside the Polys in projects.
Having fun with the Labyrinth stuff and I really can't wait until March when I'll have all 12 issues and I can read them all together. As Maria enters the Labyrinth, she makes the mistake of giving up something valuable to take a ride with a Condolier, who only takes you in circles and never where you want to go.
Now I was going to start doing the water but if I did, I know I'd then go on to background and everything else and with so much on at that moment, I really couldn't take the extra time this week. Still, I can always go back and do it later if I want to
So, outlines in H pencil as always and then coloured.

Maria's face and skin were done with Techpoint 0.3 to outline. Then they were coloured with skin white, dark blue light, white and pale pink.
Her hair was done with Unipin 0.3 to outline. Then it was coloured with skin white, cream and pastel yellow.
Her dress was done with Unipin 0.3 to outline. Then it was coloured with pale pink, dark blue light, white, pale green and pastel green.

The Condolier's face and skin were done in Unipin 0.3 to outline. The they were coloured with
His hair was done with dark blue light and warm grey 3.
His hat wasdone in Unipin 0.3 to outline. Then it was coloured with rose beige, cream, white and pastel green.
His tunic was done in Unipin 0.3 to outline. Then it was coloured with dark blue light, warm grey 3, rose beige and sand
His trousers were done in Unipin 0.3 to outline. Then they were coloured with
His oar was done in Techpoint 0.3 to outline. Then it was coloured with sand and rose beige.

The fisherman's face and skin were done in Unipin 0.3 to outline. The they were coloured with skin white and barley beige
His hat wasdone in Unipin 0.3 to outline. Then it was coloured with white, barley beige and yellow ochre
His tunic was done in Unipin 0.3 to outline. Then it was coloured with yellow ochre and barley beige.
His trousers were done in Unipin 0.3 to outline. Then they were coloured with yellow ochre and sand.
His shoes were done in Unipin 0.3 to outline. Then they were coloured with yellow ochre and terracotta.
His fishing rod was Techpoint 0.1 and 0.3 to outline. Then it was coloured with sand.

The gondola was done with Techpoint 0.5 to outline. Then it was coloured with skin white, cream, blue grey and black.

So, I've learned a few things from this project.
1: Large areas of black will mark your hand!
2: Black bleeds a lot more than other colours.
3: Go for the lighter shades even in shadow.
4: Browns and skin tones work well if you layer them the right way around.

Completion time: 55 minutes
