I've been experimenting with my new 'knock off Copic' markers since Inktober so I thought as I'm now in a new job and have a lot less time, I need something quick that I can experiment with in my lunch hours.
They have some fantastic names for the colours which don't seem to match what they are but you can't have everything - lol
This is basically like going back to the beginning for me and starting from scratch!
When I first started with the Polychromos pencils that I use all the time now, I spent six months just experimenting with them to see what I could do with them. Now it's time to do the same with these. I suspect that by the end of the year I'll be using them alongside the Polys in projects.

Apologies for the length of time since my last post but study and work have been crazy this last fortnight and I've barely had tome to draw breath, let alone take time out to do some art.
However, there have been a couple of things that have made the time more bearable. My wife, always a source of love and inspiration, a friend who I'm working with on a project for the book and the book itself. I find myself wanting to live in the world I've created!
Given my workload in the coming months I'll probable post once every two weeks (if possible) or it may be longer. Studying for my diploma takes precedence so I have to focus on that.

So, a quick project this time with the Owl King, the ruler of the Labyrinth before Jareth, holding the future of everything in his arms.
This was a genuine pleasure and so relaxing to take an hour out of my schedule to do - even if that hour was over an afternoon because the book kept jumping into my mind.
As usual, outlines in H pencil as always and then coloured.

The Owl King's face and head were done with UniPin 0.3, TechPoint 0.1 along with light red violet to outline. Then they were coloured with skin white, pale lilac, blue grey 3, sand and black along with light red violet to detail.
His antlers were done with UniPin 0.3 to outline. Then they were coloured with Then they were coloured with pale lilac, blue grey 3 and warm grey 3.
His body was done with UniPin 0.3 to outline. Then it was coloured with black, blue grey 3, sand, pastel yellow, dark blue light, warm grey 3 and blue grey 7 along with white to detail
Jareth's face, head and hands were done with TechPoint 0.1 to outline. Then they were coloured with skin white, pastel yellow and sand along with white to highlight.
His clothes were done with UniPin 0.3 to outline. Then they were coloured with dark blue light and light blue along with white and warm grey 4 to highlight.

So, I've learned a few things from this project.
1: I need to do art every week, it's so important to unwind from work and study.
2: Pens are good, pens with pencils are better.
3: Remember that it's okay to stop and write when those really good scenes come into my mind, the picture isn't going anywhere!

Completion time: 40 minutes
