Description
Jesus, as played by Victor Garber in Godspell, degreenifying Elphaba. For *samanthamuscaria for placing in #Musical-fans ' latest contest!I'm sure this is a very clever crossover, but I'm afraid I don't get it, seeing I haven't seen Godspell and know nothing about it... The idea's all *samanthamuscaria 's. Anyway, it was fun colouring the degreenifying thing, and also playing with Elphaba's looks a bit again. Purple hair this time, plus a new set of clothes. I guess Glinda's given her another makeover!

This marks the 500th time you've seen that colour splotch as a background in one of my drawings. I even made new ones but I still like that one the best.

I also don't know Godspell, but I have to say that this Elphaba's just gorgeous. Her expression and the purple hair give me a completely new look on Elphaba!
I really like it!

at the beginning of the play Jesus gathers his disciples together and paints symbols on their faces, stars and cat whiskers and what have you. But at the Last Supper, he wipes their faces off of the paint (a play on washing their feet).
Godspell is one of my favorite movies. Which is weird because athiest, but I love that film. Also most of it was filmed at the World Trade Center while it was still being constructed, so yeah, wen they start singing about the shining city on a hill it gets to be even more heartbreaking than originally intended...

Ah, I see! Thanks for the explanation!
I guess I should watch the film sometimes, it definitely sounds interesting. And wow, also quite upsetting... :/

It really is a cool film. Also the music is awesome. It kind of got overshadowed by the Other Big Religious Musical that came out at the same time (Jesus Christ Superstar) but this one is, well, more fun.(also, one of Michael Jackson's brothers is a cast member! No, really!)
But yeah, you can't help recognizing the World Trade center when they're singing and dancing through the plaza (and on the roof) at times. It's not the whole movie, but a couple of pivotal numbers.

Oh that's perfection! (Godspell is basically the story of Jesus and his teachings just in a modern setting. Usually it's he and his disciples are actor sort of people acting out the parables but I've seen and heard of people doing it in other kinds of settings like a high school setting) I love the idea of having Jesus healing Elphaba. Too great. Awesome expressions there as well. Such delight. I like your choice of clothes for her too. I like how reminiscent it is of the Wizard of Oz

I wonder if that's ever been performed in Finland – but if it is sometimes in the future, I'll definitely see it! I like Jesus Christ Superstar a lot, so it's fun to find out there's another show based on the story of Jesus too. (I guess it figures JCS is not the only one, seeing the amount the classical music the story has inspired...) Thanks for the info, and thanks so much for the compliments, too!

If you can see it you should, it's great. They have a movie of it, though it's missing a few songs. And no prob

Aww, you, I can't even tell how happy it makes me that you like this so!! Here's a link where you can download a high-res (well, unnecessarily huge...) version of this: [link] – since the one here in dA isn't that big, maybe you can make a nicer background from the full-sized one.
