Description
Here's what I've been working on and off for the last two months.I wanted to show myself (and everyone here in dART, since I'm submitting this...) how I've progressed in drawing over the last two years. Since this new version of my good ol' Whole the gang's together at
With a few added characters and touches!
Behind the sofa, from left to right: Black Widow from Corpse Bride, Victor van Dort from Corpse Bride, Beetlejuice from Beetlejuice, the twins from Big Fish, Kim from Edward Scissorhands, Mrs. Lovett from Sweeney Todd, The Headless Horseman from Sleepy Hollow and Zero from The Nightmare Before Christmas.
On the sofa, from left to right: Emily from Corpse Bride, Victoria Everglot from Corpse Bride, Lydia from Beetlejuice with Scraps from Corpse Bride, Sally and Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas, Sweeney from Sweeney Todd, Edward from Edward Scissorhands, two Oompa-Loompas from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Vincent from Vincent between them, Katrina van Tassel from Sleepy Hollow and Willy Wonka from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
The floor: Sparky from Frankenweenie and Ichabod Crane from Sleepy Hollow.
24 characters in total.
A frequently asked question (this was asked a lot at the first version's comments):
Why no Pee-Wee/Batman/Ed Wood/Mars Attacks!/Planet of the Apes characters?
Because I don't like Pee-Wee and Mars Attacks!. And because I don't consider any of the above real Tim Burton characters. Ed Wood wouldn't fit in since he was a real person, and Batman would just cause a lot "I didn't know you liked The Dark Knight?" related comments.
Download for the full sized picture. Recommended, even though the full size's really big... But the small size doesn't do the picture justice!
Comments and critique really appreciated.
Everybody in this picture (c) Tim Burton.
Art (c) me.

Most excellent! Love the expressions, it's easy to tell who is who by their expressions (except poor Ichabod, either he passed out or there was an accident with Edward Scissorhands? Or both, haha)! And I love how you put Vincent and Frankenweenie in there!
I spy 5 Johnny Depps, 2 Helena Bonham Carters and 2 Winonna Ryders... It's Tim Burton, alright!

Thanks so much!
I laughed about the Johnny Depp count too when I realised how many there were...
But I don't think there needs to be an accident with Edward, I bet just seeing a man with scissors for hands is way enough for Ichabod...

You're welcome, and now I've favorited this one as well...dunno why I didn't before...it's cool, cuz I don't actually know all these people (and dogs...and things...) but all the ones I do know (most of 'em), I like.

Noooo, not crazy at all. I'm just not allowed to watch many movies, is all. TRUST ME, I'd know 'em all if I could and not even think twice about it. There's only a few I don't know. The two ladies...the woman at the end of the couch...the dude in the striped suit...the witch lady...and technically I wouldn't know the Headless Horseman and Ichabod since I'm *twitches in anger* not allowed to watch Sleepy Hollow *resists temptation to kill someone for this unspeakable evil restriction*...but I've seen clips and trailers anyway.

Aww, poor you!
I kind of know that feeling of hatred, when Sweeney Todd got a NC-17 rating in here I got so angry it's a wonder my head didn't explode. Luckily my parents allowed me to see it when we went for a holiday in Sweden, where the rating was lower, but for a moment there I felt like going on a little killing spree around the office that decides the ratings... That's what you get when you prevent kids seeing violent films, you just make them feel more violent!

^^TOTALLY agree with that, love. I am soo tired of being told I can’t see anything. Or do anything. I swear I’m the most restricted kid I know…(and don’t you think for even a second that my parents know that I have this account, or that I’d still be alive if they did…). But yeah, I really don’t think Sweeney Todd deserved that rating. Here, it was rated R…but really, it wasn’t at all violent…the blood was very clearly fake and was going much more for a symbolic and artistic representation than a gory or violent one.
But just out of curiosity, how is Sleepy Hollow? Any worse than Sweeney Todd? Cuz I loved that one…

You remind me how lucky I am to have such trusting parents, they don't restrict me too much... And then I'm pretty much the wussiest kid imaginable, doing her homework and then surfing the net or drawing peacefully in the peace of her room, with no intentions of having any parties or going out late... - or maybe that is just sad.
I think Sweeney Todd's better than Sleepy Hollow, but the latter isn't too bad, neither.
Actually, I find it quite a hilarious sight when the heads roll around. Tim Burton is an awesome director, but I get the feeling he can't or doesn't want to handle any truely horrifying horror... Only problem I've got with Sleepy Hollow is that I don't get the plot with the people plotting about things and the killer working systematicly. I've just watched it a couple of times to enjoy the visuals and laugh at the sight of heads dropping left and right.

Yeah, and you know what's even worse? I'm that good, too. My parents shouldn't mistrust me; I think they do trust me, really, it's just that they're wayy overcautious and authoritarian. I'd never even dream of doing something that bad. All I do during the school year is homework. I don't surf the net. I'm not allowed to do that, either. *shrugs* It's not sad that you don't, I think it's nice. But I think my own life IS pretty sad.
Ah, so it's not really gory, either? That's good to know. I wonder, if my parents screened it, whether or not they'd deem it appropriate for me to watch. What d'you think? (And yeah, Burton is pretty cool, isn't he?) Pretty funny...when I picked up ST from the library for the first time, I had to listen to a yell-rant about how bad it was that I'd picked it up without their permission and how untrustworthy that was and yadda yadda whatever etc...and then they said they'd screen it for me. Next morning, my dad comes in to my room, drops the DVD on my bed, and says "You can watch it. It SUCKS. Worst movie we've seen in a long time. Watch it all you want, but maybe now you'll know."
Watched it and loved it. Back 'atcha. Ooh, I am such a rebel.

Aww, that's so wrong! Are you the only kid? I am, and I sometimes do notice that my parents get a bit overcautious, suggesting that I shouldn't take a train to somewhere but they should drive me there and such... And I'll be 18 next year. Of course, it's not that bad, and by stating reasons I usually get a permission ("Have I ever disappeared before when I've taken the train to somewhere? Have I? Huh?" ).
But I feel bad for you for your parents being like that. It's one of the things I try to remember if I'll ever have kids, not to overprotect them...
I wouldn't say it's too much more gory, the violence is mostly cartoonish - though, if your dad thougt Sweeney Todd sucks then he'll probably hate Sleepy Hollow too.
Burton is way cool. I've been a die-hard Burton fan before and even though I've calmed down a bit I still couldn't dream missing a premiere...

EntirelyInsane In reply to Starlene [2010-08-09 16:17:25 +0000 UTC]
Nope, got a younger one...but yeah, if I ever have kids, I'll definitely not be overprotective, either...*grumbles and frowns* It's really annoying, though, and I could totally rant about it for hours on end, but I'd not subject you to that. Luckily, I've got a lovely, completely insane imagination to help me through things...
Ah, well, that's good to know. As far as screening it goes, then, hopefully, I could get them to screen it and let me see it...since they let me see Todd. What d'you reckon?
YESS BURTON XDD. Funny, I've got a friend who hates his guts because she thinks he steals ideas from other people and adapts them...and yes, it's sort of true in a way, but I still appreciate the morbid, unique twist he gives them. Regardless, he's got a very creative and individual way of thinking, and I like it.

Have a go for it, I think if Todd is okay there's a chance! You're friend is quite right there... But since I can't draw anything but fanart myself I don't see anything too wrong with adapting other people's ideas...

Yep. I shall try.
No, I've got nothing wrong with it, either. I find myself so obsessed with other people's ideas, so I don't see why not! And like I said, he still adds something new to them. Every single time. He's cool in that way.

Tosi kiva "perhepotretti". Mua huvittaa toi pyörtyny Ichabod ja Katrinan lievästi säikähtäny ilme kun joku hassunnäköinen heppuli tarjoo sille suklaata (Willy ihan selvästi mainostaa omaa tuotettansa. Hyvin wonkamaista). Haha.

Joo-o.
Kyllä söi miestä.
Syö itse asiassa vieläkin.
