Description
I ran across this charming book on the language of flowers a while ago. Back in the day, you really could talk volumes via flowers! Here's what I figure some Les Mis characters would like to say.Oh Marius.

OMG. Β This is perfect. I thought it was gonna end with Marius, but then Enjolras happened, and then... I can't even. Β Javert waters his coltsfoot with such determination. Β I have no more words. It's beautiful.

I remember finding definitions like this when I took Floriculture in high school. Apparently daffodils are the flowers of "deceitful hopes." I certainly never found anything about potatoes though.

Floriculture in high school? That sounds pretty sweet! A shame potatoes weren't mentioned, though...

I learned a lot, but my teacher was a notorious plant killer and had trouble actually getting us floral materials. We made paper and candy arrangements longer than we made actual arrangements. -__-
On a musical theater note, I tried to hold back "Little Shop of Horrors" jokes in that class as best as I could⦠which is to say not well.

Heh, I think I'd be just like that if I tried to teach a class about flowers β I'm very bad at keeping them alive, too... Musical references, on the other hand, are always a good thing!

I'd say it's all about common sense in this case⦠You don't buy flowers if the refrigerator is having trouble because they'll wilt. You don't put cuttings in the hot sun or pouring rain because they are delicate. It was pretty simple stuff, but she liked to blame people for getting rid of the campus greenhouse.
And yes, musical theater references are a good thing.

xDDDD Oh my god the potatoe! Yes, that could definitely happen! I love Cosettes face. xD
And this impressive revolutionary bouquet just fits Enjolras. Dunno... it's colorful and strong and beautiful.
Yeah well.... and Javert. xDDDDD That's priceless. It somehow reminds me of a certain enthusiasm for rock collections.
You really made my day! Β

Haha, thank you!!
I think Enjolras is planning to give his bouquet to the king of France... And Javert and his hobbies, indeed. Little flowers and rocks. Very exciting.

Oh Marius would totally include a potato haha.
And I love the look on Javert's face. He looks like this is all a little bit beneath him, but he's doing it anyway.
Love the composition, too, the screenshots and the flower photos. Very nice.

Yes. He would think a heart-shaped potato is very romantic. :') As for Javert... Maybe flowers are a secret hobby, like collecting rocks?
Thank you!

This is amazing Β
Cosette's expression is just great Marius tried his best.Β
And I'm sure that this "coltsfoot" indeed is Javert's favored flower. It fits perfect.Β
Amazing how much fun one could have with a book about the language of flowers.Β

Hehe, thank you! I'm sure Cosette will appreciate Marius's efforts whenever she gets her hands on the book and deciphers the meaning of the flowers. He tried to say nice things, after all. :')
Yep! I've actually been combining flower bouquets for many of my favourite characters and fictional couples...
