Maybe he was hearing things then too or his eyes where playing tricks on him, like he felt something ahh...spelling eary ( >< ) and the room flickered and there was blood on the wall but it was all just a trick, maybe even of his mind. Since we can't really see the models in the game grab their head, he could have been freaking out.
