This Llama sketch started out as quick fun sketch from an ACEO or ATC for A-kon 21 and I liked the sketch so much I went ahead and painted it larger to 8x10.
I did jokingly (and had others say too) say along the way if anything I ever did, this would be the one that got me a DD.
So, thank you! <3 I didnt know I loved Llamas at all, until the day Llamas rained from the sky - so I had to draw a little Llamapeg of my own. (Unicorn+pegasus = Unipeg. Unipeg + Llama = Llamapeg).

This is a very cute and refreshing DD and while not technically The Bestest of the bestest (yes, that's a real word because I say so) it makes me happy. And that's a good thing. Sometimes people seem to forget that happiness is a feeling too, when they rant on and on about how picture should make you feel something. I feel happy when I see this

But it's not really the best of the best...it doesn't exactly deserve it. I'd love to see you redo this into something more...Fantastic. This is just, as you say, "devious fun"...not too much effort seems to be put in this.

I merely choose to exercise my right to express my opinion concerning the choosing of this work. I feel like the main assumption of the institution of DD is to promote works that to a certain degree transcend the boundaries of personal tastes so that even people who don't particularily enjoy the theme of work can still admit, that it is art and it was created with passion and effort.

Passion yes, and while it was a faster piece of artwork it wasnt as efforty as some others.
And while yes, I agree, theres still room for fun and charm. It doesnt all have to be oh-so-serious.
Not every DD is everyones flavor, theres too many over too long a period and too many artists that are fantastic that never get seen and people are going to pick to their own tastes regardless.
I, however, am pleased and will enjoy it while it lasts and be amused that it was the Llamacorn that randomly got one. =3
But as for 'deserve' Ive been on DA a long time, and have spend years of effort and a quiet passion to try to get more than anything more than a passing attention on my artwork.
Does that mean *I* deserve it? No, prolly not. But will I take this as a sign to just not give up, thats its all random and sometimes its just luck?
Oh my yes. Will I continue to try to transcend (what a great word, btw) and 'just be myself' regardless that most folks have a much more serious, detailed and different view of 'what is art'.

I do not agree that this deviaton gets a daily deviation. i mean, i'm happy for the artist because it must be awesome to get one, and i'm not telling that this drawing isn't good, but the Daily Deviations are supposed to be "the best" in every aspect, originallity, technique, impact, among other things. And this is just a regular drawing, i'm not saying it's bad, just that the idea is normal, especially with this "llama fashion" that`s been recently, the coloring is not amazing, overall it's pretty untidy, for example the color lineart do not follow correctly the pencil lineart in some parts (specially the wings) and you even can see the pencil lineart. the technique is nothing special either. i'm saying that in my opinion it's not good "enough" to get a daily deviation.
And for those that may think so, i'm not saying i "could do better", i wouldn't do it in the first place.
But that's just my humble opinion-

May i ask why do you think that a DD does only feature "the best" art of dA? In my opinion a DD is a way to give one artist a bit more attention for various reasons and to make the artist more known to a wider audience.
Kinda makes me sad to see that only masterpieces should get more attention - because they get them on their own most of the time already.
And it was featured as part of the deviantART related gallery, that gallery is always connected to what is going on at dA. So it's only natural that currently a lot of llama related artworks get suggested.
