Y'know what? This clinches it. In the context of the Ask Prince(ss) Quasimodo Quartz Tumblr, this isΒ what Rarity looked like a couple months before getting her cutie mark! At a certain point, Hondo Flanks & Cookie Crumbles's son Elusive decided that he felt more comfortable as a girl, and so sheΒ began to curl her mane, wear false eyelashes and makeup, and put on a more feminine accent.

So, does Quartz know? Also, I have some ideas for Skyla and Royal Beauty's personalities and just general junk. Is that ok?

I feel like Quartz would know. Either Rarity lets slip her commonality with Quartzy while helping with makeup, or Quartzy puzzles it out herself.

Royal beauty is a bit of a snob, but not really mean, just fancy.
Skyla's a little bit of a trickster, not mean, just enjoys a good laugh. I'm still fighting this damn cold, so my responses are going to be short.

I could see a scene like that happening. I'm not sure if it's a scene that would have a place in the Tumblr unless Rarity decides to answer a question alongside her honourary niece. (And then we'd cue the flashback~!)
Royal Beauty sounds a bit like a more mellow version of Rarity. Like, without the melodrama or the whining, just the haute-couture schtick and the good heart.
So Skyla's a bit like Celestia, then. Like, pulling the same teacup trick that Celestia did with the Cakes, to get some Crystal Ponies to loosen up a bit.
And keep on kicking that cold's ass!

I was just thinking about a flashback like that.
She's mellow, but she can be a little competitive on certain situations. She really wants to have an important place in the empire. She's still kind, though. It's actually also a little like Rarity, with her social climbing.
Skyla is pretty much exactly Celestia in 'A Bird in the Hoof' episode, she never does anything that will hurt others feelings, but silly things like that are her favorite thing. Although she's probably going to be a princess (in the sense of how Luna is princess of the moon, celestia the sun, and Cadance love) she doesn't quite realize it yet.
