With the arrival of my last year's belated self Christmas gift 2 weeks ago, a vintage Hornby Dublo oo-gauge gunpowder wagon/van, I considered of transforming this rolling stock into something else to which neither of UK's best model railroad manufacturers, Hornby, Bachmann, Dapol, etc. have never done before: the LBSCR (London Brighton and South Coast Railway) 8 ton van.

Because of this and the gunpowder wagon's similarity in shape and scale, customizing this was often a painstaking one which involves sanding as well as carving lines using a box-cutter and pin needle! Prior to first removing the original horizontal clamp couplings, the NEM couplings have been applied the same way as I did with the pill box brake van model as well as two ventilation "balls" on the roof made out of using the spare remaining parts from the Cambrian model kit for the brake van. As a bonus, thought I'd also add in some shots of when this finished custom wagon is coupled together with the brake van. However, I STILL will need a model locomotive to make sure the couplings are on the right level with no miscalculation.

As a fun fact, these vans were often made famous from the TV series Thomas And Friends, starring as one of the troublesome trucks/foolish freight cars and of van division. Should people ever ask me a possible question whether or not I'll be applying a face on this rolling stock, well to all those who ARE wanting to ask, I believe you already know what my answer will be! lol

Materials used for construction: Pin needle, Gundam markers, hot glue, [finger]nail sander and plastic 0.3 x 0.2 bar

P.S.: Such great pity it is that these vans never appeared again prior to when the series transformed into CGI.
