Love that kind of 'realistic' details so much, and it really made my childhood leaving this animee-stuff to enter the more realistic SciFi/Tech.

I think this is actually the AMS that they put this under. I lost count of how many times they changed the rules on this piece of equipment, but it became more useful with each iteration. The art at least never changed.

The original version of the AMS was terrible. It had the potential of knocking down only 2 incoming missiles for the expediture of its entire ammunition load. No one I gamed with back in the day bothered with the thing because of that.
Now, at least, it's worthwhile. But the artwork for it (this image) has always been great.

Now it's a -4 to the missile hits chart for 1 shot, right? I don't have Total Warfare.

Hm, AMS rules... Total Warfare page 129:
Attacking player applies a -4 malus to his die roll result (with the AMS never reducing the roll below 2), with Streak missiles treat the incoming attack as an 11 and add the -4 malus to determine how many missiles hit the target, if the weapon is a single-launch system (Narc Beacon, Thunderbolt, the like) then roll 1D6 with 1-3 being a destroy and 4-6 allowing the missile to hit it's target.

I have no idea - I don't have Total Warfare, either. Just a pile of the old FASA-era books and the 'Classic BattleTech' Master Rules...
