Description From the Shadowrun book "Virtual Realities 2.0", FASA, 1995.
Another zany mid-90s idea of what Cyberspace would some day look like. Also, a bit of a self-portait ; )

I love it. Visuals like this is what got me in to VRML in '95 and then into Information Architecture & Usability. I got a chance to meet William Gibson a couple of years ago, I brought up Shadowrun and he almost busted a blood vessel! I got the idea he not really into sci/fantasy in any way

You say self-portrait, but somehow this guy reminds me of Warren Zevon...

(...I really like Warren Zevon.)

Ah, back when Cyberspace was the New Frontier- instead of a virtual mall...

Tell me; have you studied engineering or technical design? Your technology drawings show a real understanding of how hard and fast the rules of physics really are.

Thanks! No, no engineering or tech training... though I *have* spent most of my working life doing jobs that are 50% artistic and 50% technical, like game design, visual effects and film editing (which is far more technical than most people realize). So I do have a pretty good head for it

What really did it for me was discovering manga and anime while I was in university in the late 80s. Macross, Appleseed, Akira, Patlabor... they all showed such an amazing technical realism, and I really took it to heart!
