This is pretty beautiful, but technically, it is not an abstract because it is a landscape. Or, it is an abstract painting that look like a landscape (or many other things.) But it is for sure very interesting and I enjoy it a lot.

Well, I hope you will understand me, because English is not my first language. I not agree with what you said.
A creation can be considered as an abstraction when we cannot recognize something figurative. It can for sure mix some figurative elements with an non-figurative one, but if it does, it will be considered to be not a abtract painting because it will not be total. Their is for sure a lot of connection between landscape and abstraction (Rothko is one of these perfect example with his color fields, his paintings that look like landscape). But when you say that something abstract is and does not look like a landscape, you are doing an interpretation of your own painting. But it could be something else for me (if it is abstract). Thus, your paintitng is evoking a landscape. If it dont't and it is representing one, it will be done by the use of low-figuratives elements and will be not an abtract painting in that case, because it will be a landscape and not something else. Evocation and representation are not the same thing definitively.
Do you see the difference? By the way, I can understand that it can be confusing, some people often describe something as abtract by misuse of language.

Thanks dholms! I'm pretty new to the traditional work scene but loving it. I don't even mind the bit of a mess I have to clean up.
You sir are one of my fave artists here on teh DA, I'm glad to see you are still kicking around here, and look forward to seeing more of your stuff too.

I do like it; especially the way the colors, values, and shapes move through the piece. Those muted colors are "Rembrandt rich", as in the artist, not the company.
