Description
Well, here are the many sketches i've done so far to try to make alex look right, but i can't do itIDK, i'm working on it
Anyone know what i can do to get better? practice i guess
PS: is this considered anime or manga or comic, or what?
Profile (subject to change):
Name: Alex (short for Alexandra)
Gender: Female (though people sometimes mistake her for a boy)
Age: 11 (6’th grade)
Height: 160 cm, 5ft 3in
Weight: 88LB , 40 KG
Appearance: blond and messy hair, blue-green eyes,
Character: Tomboy, clever & quick-witted, stands up for others more so than she stands up for her self (often confronts bullies), brave, athletic, caring… if she likes you, if she hates you… not so much
Clothing:
Tops: t-shirts (mainly), sweatshirts, hoodies, sleeveless t-shirts, tank tops, or nothing (mainly with overalls), doesn’t wear a bra (and has small breasts, so she doesn’t need ‘em)
Bottoms: usually wears baggy jeans or baggy overalls, sometimes wears baggy sweatpants or corduroys in the fall and winter.
Often wears a hat (baseball cap)
Sometimes wears glasses, like when reading , but usually wears her contacts.
Her pants often have fading rips and mud/grass/oil/paint stains (“they’re clean enough for me”)
Hates wearing anything girly or fancy.
Usually fills her pockets with useful things, pencils, paper, compass, band aids etc.
Sometimes has scratches cuts or bruises, especially on knees and elbows
Sometimes goes bare footed, if not she wears a worn-out pair of sneakers.
Likes: Animals, Pizza, Ice cream, Cookies, Baggy Clothes, Helping people, Nature, fruits and veggies.
Favorite Activities/hobbies: soccer (she calls it football, since it makes sense to her), farming and taking care of her animals, basketball, Mountain biking, skateboarding, and snow boarding, Fishing, rock climbing, Karate (has Black belt), track, most sports and outdoor/physical activities, Mechanics (adopted the roll of mechanic at home, fixing up their 18 year old car)/Carpentry, gardening, and videogames.
Doesn’t like: people calling her just a ‘girl’ or telling her to act like more like a girl, mosquitoes (the only bug she will kill on sight), bullies/mean people, lazy people, spoiled people, Shopping (except for special things), being sick, showers/baths (only when she wants to), poison ivy and stinging nettle (of which she sometimes has on her arms)
Random other traits:
Alex lives on a small farm, with chickens, cows, goats, and her horse, and also her cat and dog, and plenty of crops, she loves being a farm girl.
Does very good at classes she likes (esp: science and PE), and bad at classes she doesn’t like, or finds boring (depends on teacher, and what is taught)
Sparing and a bit frugal, but generous. (gives gifts, but doesn’t buy expensive clothes and the like) (gets most clothes second hand, used bike, used skate&snow board) (Her Family has gone through financial hardships as well)
Never eats red meat, unless it is from an old animal her farm that was uthinised/died naturally. And any other meat she eats she makes sure it was/is humane. (EG: freezes fish if she’s going to kill them, only eats older fish)
Family:
Her father is a biology teacher at a university, and doesn’t get to be a father often during the school year, in the free time he has during the summer, he tries to make it up to her by playing with her and teaching her things about nature.
Her mother was, previously an engineer. but got laid off a years ago. now, while searching for a new full time job, she helps Alex out with the chores on the farm, and does odd handy-woman jobs.
Alex is an only child, but don’t try telling that to her, she has dozens of avian and bovine siblings.

I absolutely love looking at this
It shows such improvement. Look how far you've went! In like, a year.
THAT'S A LONG WAY. You're one of those fast runners when it comes to art ;D
In fact, I think you improve much faster than me, man. o_O
Just look at that!
I'm so proud of you, son! :3

Just uploaded: [link]
I've been told that i've improved a lot, and thanks
Maybe it makes up for they year in 4'th grade where I improved by NOTHING despite drawing 40 comic pages
Thank you... uh... Mommy? Daddy? XP
Portal 2 + MLP:FIM = [link]
(PS: they changed the intro to MLP:FIM a bit, and added in Derpy hooves and Big macintosh... and made it a little shinier... you'll see once you catch up to episode 3 season 2 :3

Oh I love it
Yes, she looks quite presentable in this one.
Man, love the detail on the shirt, how the "stripes and crosses" (whatever they are) really add to the 3Dness of the shirt (there I go using that word again xD).
Like, they follow the curve of her arm, etc. It's really neat
And yes, you improve a lot You've been drawing seriously for about a year, that's A LOT. A LOT. And I'm not exaggerating either.

Here's how I drew about a year ago.
Compare and contrast. You got more out of a year than I ever did.
And I expect you to keep improving at the same rate *evil teacher look*.
>:[)
(AND LOL MLP + P2 = EPICNESS)

Well good, she thinks so even if SOME PEOPLE don't
The stripes and crosses are supposed to show plaid XP :3
Well, you where much better than I was a year ago... and I still have weird fluctuations... I don't know... but thanks Hermit ^^ *looks up innocently at teacher*

Aww :3 Look at those "innocent" eyes . . .
Nah, I think you were much better than I am.
My drawing ability was horribly limited and I didn't dare to try new poses, new things, etc. Again (sorry for the repetition; to really get something across to a teenager, you should repeat it 4.5 times, according to a psychology study xD), your improvement is crazy impressive
Stefan, my most faithful student . . . xD
One thing you need to do . . . is stop drawing with those dusty papers!
Get out there and make more digital art XP

Lol XP if that WHERE the case... that I was better a year ago... then you make your previous statement wrong... the one about me improving faster... because... you know... you are as good or better than I am right now... I think
Ok, i'll experiment around with SAI and whatnot more... but still keep up pencil drawing as well *wink*
Paper Alex: Who you callin' dusty!
Digital Alex: Well, it'd be hard to tell, thing is i'm much more colorful
Paper Alex: But I was here first!

Good point xD
Let me restate that: You have a horribly short learning curve
lol Paper Alex and Digital Alex. I can totally imagine them having that sort of conversation xD
And SAI . . I don't know about you but I really enjoy messing with new programs. Whenever I figure out something, I go EUREKA! and it usually just makes my day. But if you want to save some time, I've found some pretty decent SAI tutorials. Check out [link] I've never really watched a tutorial to learn SAI because by the time I've found some good ones it's already too late xD I think now I learn mostly from watching speedpaints, to see how different artists use the same program and their technique and stuff like that. But yeah, just search up SAI tutorials, there are tons of them on YT, dA, and elsewhere too! (As you probably already know xD).
Well, good luck
