Description So I always feel I sort of come up short when I draw somebody else character in my comic pages because of time pressure, my feeble skills and such. A year ago or so I started doing reference sketches before starting on the pages to help me get better result to help alleviate these problems somewhat and can now use those same sketches to do just that bit extra that these characters deserve. It's loads of fun to do and it's also a thank you to the artist I work with and hopefully does the character more credit.

August was bit hectic so never really got around to do any work on these, but now that days have calmed down a bit I was finally able to finish these, so here they are. Sizes might not exactly be spot on because The Shaman is just huge.

Referencing characters in your own style is a good habit, I do it myself as well though I can't say my references would be of quality worth of uploading .

Good to see Falderoy in your style as well as many others you have drawn in these lineups.

Must admit my reference sketches aren't that great either but I have learned to improvise quite a bit during inking.

Falderoy was a tricky one because I couldn't entirely wrap myself around the idea of how his head was shaped from different angles, but I think I found the sweet spot although it's somewhat different from your own version.

Falderoy's head is actually one of the reasons I'm always excited to see how others draw him. What I believe makes it difficult is that the eyes and mouth are not on the same vertical level. The eyes are further front than the mouth. People interpret this in many ways, it's part of the charm I guess .

1. These look freak'in cool !

2. Glad to hear your having fun at a less hectic pace right now...

( and kinda hoping you have sometime for a certain Halloween Showcase )

and..

3. I shall give you a John Cleese ' smack on head ' , if you say you have ' feeble skills ' again.     ... Your one of the best artist's I know!

1. Thanks
2. Yes, it's on the stack and I'm currently brainstorming for ideas.
3. The moment I don't consider my skills feeble is the moment I'm not looking critically at my own work and thus would mean I'm no longer pushing for improvement, so I think I'll go and take that smack then sooner or later
