From small bits of information one can gather that back in Norway He was supposed to take over the ownership of a family own gardensenter. Something happend with in the family and Stein came to the breaking point of having a serious breakdown. Realizing he couldn't take the pressure anymore, he sold everything he owned and moved out of the country to join the RedCross. It was as a Redcross relief worker he got in contact with the rebels and decided to join them.
