Description
The Impunity-class light carrier was the first dedicated carrier in Magisterial Navy service. Adapted from the hull of an Elegance-class battlecruiser, the Impunity-class was a learning experience that very much reflected the fact that the Navy had never built a carrier before, retaining the 150mm secondary batteries of the Elegance, and limited considerably by hull-type's narrow beam. As such, the maximum number of aircraft it can carry is limited to 45 Kestrel fighters or Cormorant dive bombers, though 36 is a more common complement to allow for maintenance space. While it can recover heavy fighters and torpedo bombers, it cannot launch said aircraft, and so more often than not the class finds itself tasked with providing light fighter cover for smaller battle groups, supplementing the flights of fleet carriers, and training new pilots in carrier operations. Though the Impunity-class is no longer at the cutting edge of Magisterial Naval aviation, it remains a thoroughly serviceable element of the fleet.
