Description
The design that would become the Feianeth-class battleship was drawn up during the late buildup to the First Dawn-Telenese War, in response to the crying need of the Magisterial Navy for a new class of capital ship to supplement its stock of aging armoured and heavy cruisers. Initially a design for a new heavy cruiser with improved firepower and armour protection was submitted by Auros Heavy Industries and Saraneth Industrial Steelworks, the Dawn's principle shipbuilders at the time, but the proposals were soon bombarded with ever more demanding requirements from the Magisterial Admiralty. Quickly, the design turned from heavy cruiser to battlecruiser and finally to fast battleship, spurred particularly by reports of the new Chancellor-class battleships being ordered by the Telerenn Parliamentary Navy. The first ship of a planned four was still under construction when hostilities broke out between the Dawn and the Telerenn Republic, and after the capture of the Telenese flagship Chancellor, the refit of the captured battleship into the Regent-class took priority over the incomplete vessels, and as such no ships of the Feianeth-class would see combat until late in the conflict.
Despite their late arrival, the Feianeth-class battleships would prove themselves invaluable- after all, 16-inch guns are still 16-inch guns, and the considerable speed of the class compared with many older capital ships of the beligerent Telerenn Parliamentary Navy did not go amiss. While the captured and refitted Chancellor-class battleships Regent and Magistrate did a much of the heavy lifting in major fleet engagements, the Feianeth-class became the accidental backbone of the Magisterial battleship line, often finding themselves working in support roles with Elegance-class battlecruisers and in escort of the fleet's considerable carrier complement. Feianeth and her youngest sister ship Titanianeth would distinguish themselves alongside much of the Magisterial battleship fleet during the Burning of Hederedth- the destruction of the Telenese capital and the final battle of the First Dawn-Telenese War that would finally force a peace.
With respectable speed, respectable armour protection, respectable firepower, and reliable, straightforward design, the Feianeth-class would continue to serve the Magisterial Navy well into future conflicts, earning their place as a beloved workhorse of the fleet.

That's very true, hence the Majesty-class battleship (my take on a Yamato-style super battleship) also existing in my portfolio. As I said, this is based on the Nagato, as in what would be the equivalent of Nagato in my story continuity, not an improvement on it. I quite appreciate your comment though, and for an improved design all points are quite pertinent!
