Description
This started off to be a quick--not too serious work for my "Eye Fetish" friends here. The 3some at present. Timbrewolfe, 6BandblackInk, and 369Naruto. I soon realized I was in for a job--and it's their fault I had to work on this versus the quick drawing I had planned. lol Kidding guys--u know I love ya's. If you like this drawing I credit these three for the inspiration to start this particular drawing in the first place. Thanks guysI'm happy with the outcome although I could've brought out the face more among other things. Does it look like I'm half way to insanity? lol No, I'm a normal (huh) down to earth nice guy. Humble too. Hope you like it.

I love the insane detail action! I actually didn't see the face at first; it was pretty cool when it popped out at me!

Hey... I love this, you're work is very interesting... But hey, you can make the image smaller when your viewers click on it by saving it as a .jpg... Just thought i'd letcha know
And that you're an amazing artist! Keep it up

Thank you very much for the generous words. I never take them lightly. They also help while struggling with a new one. : )
Yes---I have to start doing that. Making them smaller when you zoom in or save. Appreciated.

Really like this one, it's a strong center of attention and then your traditional level of complexity to keep it endlessly interesting. Seems like your sense of negative space is particularly advanced in this one too, something I'd encourage you to always "lean toward" to create contrast against your "clutter." This one seems best among your work for leveraging that.
Very striking, and you are certainly an artist. You clearly have the talent and hard work necessary, just keep striving for such interesting expressions as these. I've always envied people who can do what you do.

contrast against my clutter lol--love it. Thx for the valuable feedback. Soon--this week I'll be posting one I'm finishing up now. It's a colored one. Yes, it's alittle tight, but the characters within the work justify it--I think anyway. I'd appreciate you feedback on that one. I'm sure you've seen Pending (upside down) and Pending2 (normal view). It was a nightmare for me--posted it last week I believe. Fetish eyes watching I really lke---I believe "Gaurdians of the Night shows the most negative space--right? That's one of my favorites. Hapy New Year to you & thx again for the feedback

The title of the composition actually amused me because I have a serious obsession with eyes. Great looking details and dazzling style. I love the structure and design. Beautifully done.

lol--yes--me too. Notice there eyes in everthing I draw. Started many years ago. When I drew that--I guess a couple months ago. I was new to da and making friends. A few of them are eye freaks too--so I sat down as was going to do a goof picture for us eye fetish people---hence the name--anyway--it turned into a normal project quickly and was no longer a fast joke thing. I dedicated it to the eye fetishers on da lol It was a friend here that used the term "eye fetish"

The colours make it look like it's make outta glass! Not sure if you meant for that. But it's still very cool.

Stepbeyond In reply to Scrumdiddliumptious [2005-10-22 21:57:10 +0000 UTC]
hmmmm Well, I didn't want or think of that it was made out of glass. If you see it that way--great. but the deeper black was for effect in the large eyes and other places. I didn't intend to use as much as I did. If I were to redraw Fetish I wouldn't add as much of the deep black. But I'm still happy with it.. Thank's for the feedback

Woah! This was completely unexpected! (Actually thinking about it, you did hint at something at one point...)
Obviously since it's a black and white abstract piece, I'm going to love it! But it is so much more. You mess with our minds! Everything is there, the precise geometry that seems to change as you look at it, the combination of strict angular parts with rambling curves. I'd know instantly that it was yours. And yes, even as I rotate it about, the scen changes completely. And the eyes! Who could ever say they weren't the gate to the soul?
Weirdly enough, there are colours there too. I've seen reds and blues in this... it's great.
A truly fantastic piece. I feel inspired.

You're always such an inspiration. I'm so glad you know what to look for--not everyone does. What you see with all my stuff is (for me) the real fun. By the way--I think you've done it already--but rotate Hell Express. It truely is 4 pictures in one. I got at least three excellent sides on that--one is ok--not great---but three super ones---check that out if you haven't already. Thanks again buddy. Gezzz--I have to watch what I post with you out here. Kee4p me on my toes lol By the way, u said " this was unexpected." hmm in what way, Tom. Im at a loss with that statement

I had done it before, but it was still great to see Hell Express again. You're right - it does have particularly different sides to it.
Well you see, you mentioned something about "us eye freaks" in Mad Man Sax, and I thought you were going to make a journal entry about eyes. But then you come up with this amazing piece of artwork instead!
And we're all friends here, I'm sure; you can say what you want!

and to think that I hepled inspire something like that? Once again another amazing abstract. I am just flored about how fase you can put these out. How long did this one take you? I know Gothic Imagry took me several months to do. I just kept putting it down. But I bet this one took you way less time than that. I love how intracite this piece is. and there is about three to four places where you really mess with dememtions, where the view is not sure what is in the foreground and what is in the background. A picture I could stare at for hours and not get boared with. By the way just how many eyes do you have in there? I think I even saw some sunglasses.

Nice to hear from you. Thanks. Gothic Imagry ?? I'm not familiar with the term. Is that what my drawing is? I told you I think. I'm not a formaly trained artist--never even kept up with the who's who and all that. Today I was being very hard on myself--"Like, I suck." I see the thousands upon thousands of outstanding art works. I never considered myself an artist at all until others told me I was. Wow, I'm in a great pick on me mood--sorry. It's artists like yourself and others that have been so gracious in ur comments that have kept me from going back to my doodling and not entertain the thought of being a "real artist." Thank you so much. I'm happy you enjoy my work. That's what it's all about--right? Oh, It probably was 20 to 25hrs to do. PS I see these works that were done during math class or something from a 16yo. All those years for me were spent in music up to the present. Thanks again. You really see what's going on in my work---so cool

I think that I already explained to you that Gothic Imagery was one of my pictures and I should be more clear when I am talking to people about things. As for not considering yourself an Artist, I do not care if you consider yourself an artist, I con consider you an artist and I am looking at you as a role model for my abstracts. As for formal schooling you do not need formal schooling to be an Artist. I know 3 people that have graduated from a national acredited Liberal Arts College with degrees in Art. One is a librarian, one is unemployed, and one works at grocery store. So schooling is not everything when it comes to art. The extent of my formal training in Art came from high school art classes. Nothing after that. All the other stuff that I know about art is second hand knowledge from all my friends that have Art degrees. So schooling and education have nothing to do with making you an artist, so I consider you an artist.

Thank you so much for that comment. When I wrote that I was getting so down on myself. Looking at all this art here--and I was in GFX but never was able to upload anything---but the art in both these places---I look at it and say---that's an artist---I'm no artist. But I don't feel like that today. I believe as I grow in abstract I will be among the top because my abstracts are pretty unique---as all our work is---but I seem to have something from the trade, or other that this certain style comes out. So when I say I'm an abstract artist---yes---I believe I am and thank you for that complement with role model. Feel free anytime to pic my brain with that---you're certainly unique yourself. Like I said---we all are ---but yours is among the type I like.

I actually feel complimented that you consider my art worthy, because I feel that mine is juvinile in comparison to yours. I do not even try to put meaning in half of my pictures it just comes out. My art is Art for the sake of Art nothing more. You start out with a concept in mind and figure out the best way to protray it. There have been very few pictures of mine that I had a complete idea and drawn it down. My two best friends picture, bliss, solitude, Terri, and the Gothic Maids. The rest of the work just pretty much came out of doodling because I was bored. Well there are also the Three crosses and the B-Day card. Those were not full pictures. By the way have you seen my latest submissions yet, I re did Gothic Maids, Best Friends, and Renaissance.
