Not so unique there were artists in the late 70th and early 80th connecting surrealism with abstract elements.

I am not often lost for an 'association' or artistic reference. The nearest I could think of was Howard Hidgekin: , but the work owes noting to him really... [link] .

Nearly always a painting makes me think of something else, another artist or something I have seen, a film, a piece of music. This one did not. It was only like itself. This makes it one of very few, or the only one like this.
