Great work, dude. Knowing what ur goals really are, is indeed half of the battle win, but its a hell of a good start in what u're doing. It gives u motivation and strenght to follow this long road of become someone and something. And no matter how bad things get, this knowledge , forced you to keep on going.

having goals in life will only restrict you, let life take you where it wants

blake4squids In reply to XXAnemia [2011-11-03 11:57:52 +0000 UTC]

you say that like not having any goals is freedom. I think the opposite is true. Knowledge and experience is freedom. It solidifies your identity. not that you necessarily need an identity to be happy. but waiting for life to take you where it wants creates in own set of restrictions. you might find yourself with too many options and regretting the path you choose, or regretting the path not chosen, or you may not take any path and sit idly (which can also be regrettable). And thats assuming any opportunity presents itself at all. And then you are never really certain want you really want or who you really are. If no opportunities ever really present themselves, then it seems kinda sad to me that one would simply accept what life has handed them. and its not a matter of humility, its a matter of either passively letting life go by or embracing life, becoming good friends with life and exchanging benefits. They call that a mature relationship.
its subjective.

You've taken the wrong thing out of what I said, I never want to just sit at home my whole life and wait for something to happen, I want to go and do things but I don't care what. I don't want to sit and plan things, like, I'm going to live in this city for five more years and save up enough money to move into a house in the city next to this and live in this boring place my whole life
I want to just work where I can and not decide to be anywhere, to just keep moving without a plan. I don't want a boring, horrible life, I want to go and do something and I really don't care enough about what it is to plan it. Say, maybe next year I will move back to england, maybe I'll go to art school. If I go to england, maybe i'll live with family there, maybe I'll get my own place and a job wherever I can. If I pick one out and follow it I'm only going to be limited by it, and not be able to do whatever I want.
Of course I'm not saying to sit at home and do nothing forever, it makes me sick to think of people who die in the same house they are born in. I just think making big goals to do with life is silly, when it would be much nicer to drift along wherever I feel like going and not be tied down by goals.
I guess my only goal is to get as far away from this town as possible, but that's as far as I go, I'm not going to plan where I end up.
I don't want to find myself, no, I don't care who I am, why should I have to? I have no idea who I am, and I don't ever want to be boxed into a societal stereotype.

Please ask me what I mean before making an assumption like that, I may have phrased it in a hard to understand way but that was nothing like what I meant

blake4squids In reply to XXAnemia [2011-11-03 20:03:20 +0000 UTC]

It wasn't that I was making assumptions. It was late, I was sleep deprived, and had just gotten back from a study watching Lolita. I was feeling eccentric, philosophical and quite conversational. That's why people post their opinions, yes? To spark conversation?
Knowing who you are isn't about following a societal stereotype. I agree that becoming a societal stereotype is the ultimate form a limiting yourself. "My identity is based out of shallow material things and consumerism because its so important to me to believe something, I'll take the fist thing that appeals to my aesthetic and moral values." Challenge your aesthetic and moral values!
So, like i said, no assumptions, just conversation. OPINIONS!

well telling you to set goals and force yourself into them is useless to me, so you go do that and live your life in a straight line, have fun

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Crysomandiaz In reply to XXAnemia [2011-11-03 11:52:26 +0000 UTC]

well, literally you say that you should not have goals in life, which would equate to staying at home being breastfed all your life, and that's what I found so hilarious. Believe me, I would love to take life as it comes, but sadly that does not pay my bill

XXAnemia In reply to Crysomandiaz [2011-11-03 12:21:35 +0000 UTC]

maybe not entirely useless. State of mind kind of thing. though i believe waiting for life to take you places can also be restricting, what if opportunities never present themselves? Sometimes you have to create your own opportunities.
