Description
Just a quick mini tut of my Wonder Woman piece: [link] I think it's pretty self explanatory, and just note that Step 3 is more of an option than anything else (I just got lazy). Also, I encourage you to check out my other tutorials here: [link] because they all sort of work in conjunction with one another. And lastly, this process is a modified version of this process: [link] by the incomparable Julie Dillon. Hope y'all digs and get some use out of itOther Tutorials: [link]

Hey... I just threw up my WW! Although, alas I have no drawing skills so mine is strictly colours. Its great to see how you get to the final point, I've never gonna from a grayscale before, it looks pretty useful for keeping the values right. That 3.5 hour rendering is the bitch though... I just love getting to the details. Good to see your still having some time to get some free work done. Hows the job been?

The reason I've been able to get work done is because there is no job At least not the one I was telling everyone about. In short, it just wasn't the right fit for me. Oh well. There will always be another job.
As far as the 3.5 hour rendering part... yeah it can be a pain sometimes, but that's were the hard work comes in. This is the part of the process that many (myself included) fail. It's very hard to work through something that doesn't perceive to be going well.
I also strongly believe that it is that point where the most growth occurs (that, and the initial drawing phase). All the other stuff is almost brainless in comparison.
And regarding the grayscale start, for a while I was all about it, then I though it was slowing me down and I just went right into the color, but now I'm back to doing it grayscale again and I think the art is better for it. Will I ever stop using grayscale, probably, but maybe by then we'll be able to just think a painting into existence instead of actually physically laboring to get it done

May that day of 'no effort art' never come
Shame the job didn't fit, most dont in my experience, unless you canwillingly become the zombie that just works through the pain and tedium... like me! I barely breathe anymore at work for fear it will make the day go slower ;D

Thanks for the tutorial and link. Unfortunately, I took one glance at Julie Dillon's gallery and wanted to crawl into a corner.

I did too the first time, but after I cam to my senses, it's a pretty logical way of working. All it takes is a little practice and a little more confidence

Yeah, emphasis on A LOT. I've been watching Nei Ruffino's live stuff these past two days. I had forgotten how much there is to be learned by just looking.

True. But what made it easier for me was to take what I liked about her process (as well as others) and combine them together to make my own method that works for ME.
And yes watching is probably the easiest way to learn, but doing is probably the best. And while I'm a fan of the new live stream art shows that;ve been popping up, I think, unless they start adding audio they can only help but so much. But that's just me

I've been doing that as well. It's been frustrating, but I've found the efforts rewarding. One thing I found out, the minute I become lazy, it shows.

Yeah, laziness is never good, it's easy, but never good
