ETA April 2009:I know it's a million years later but I updated this with a non-shit photograph so I could make prints and show it a bit bigger.
I'm not as fond of this piece as I used to be, but I do think it's really a big stepping stone of my artistic career, and I know so many people liked it :' ) Thank you all for your lovely comments.
hey, it's more schoolwork! and a lame title to boot!
this was my drawing II final~ we got to do whatever we wanted, so i opted for some nice tasty watercolor illustration.
i got inspired to do this concept (and it took me such a long time to get an idea, i was very frustrated) because a cardinal sideswiped my head. i love cardinals but damn.
i used myself as a reference for the sketch, which was done at 3 am the night before it was due (what did i tell you? frustration!)
mixed media~ dumpster cardboard (yay), watercolor, old tea, graphite and collage.

no birdies were hurt in the making of this art. just my eye, as i squinted into the compact mirror in a dimly lit room.

This is soooo incredibly beautiful!!!!! 
ANYWAY SUCH A COOL STYLE!!! I loooove the stripes there and the splattered and aquarell kinda colours, it's stunning...
Drawing on cardboard must be so fun 
I'm really bad with watercolours, I usually hated to use them in school because you can't do such details as with pencil or markers, but after seeing this I know what a watercolour pic could look like and it actually makes me want to try again X3

yeah, it's the spontaneous quality of watercolors that attracts me to them~

working with tea is interesting as well~
just make sure you don't accidentally drink it after you stick a paintbrush in it like i almost did xD

Yes you're right, it's really beautiful when watercolours run together while drawing, markers can be very boring from time to time. I really wanna try and use different possibilities of working with markers to make drawing with them a little more artistic, well ye right lol, I still need a long way of practise before I can call any of my stuff artistic hehe! I imagine it'd be so fun drawing whith them though if you've developed a cool style ^^

God, it's just so beautiful.
Everything about the way you used the watercolour is absolutely perfect...I think my favourite part is the red splatter of the cardinal. Quite a nice touch.

DUDE!~ this is. well, kick ass simple (I know, so descriptive 
The colours, tones and texture are all so eye catching and pretty.
It reminds me of older style paintings you find in Chinese restaurants - the ultra pretty water colour ones.
Fav+ most defiantly <3

wish i could see a bigger view of this. i love the splattering and the birds. i have the same problem w/school projects too. -___-;;; it's not like i don't try, just that i'm more creative under super high pressure. i'm surprised i've not failed out of school yet. @____@;

funny story, i had two cups of tea, one to drink while i painted and one to use for paint. at one point i realized my brush was in my drinking cup T__T but i'm still here so i guess i didn't poison myself xD;;
